this is a list of zines in my collection. note that i do not necessarily agree with the opinions in these zines, and that these happen to be what i have in my collection; many of these are flawed or outdated, but have interesting viewpoints. my critiques of them can be pretty strong, but i feel strongly about zines!

zines are dated by year publishing (on zine itself, occasionally found from social media) or year of acquisition.

the boxes will never alternate perfectly because that's a waste of my time.

Anarchy and Polyamory by Dysophia
- this zine is incredibly obviously about cishet polyamory. 0 doubt about it. when first reading it i was mildly confused at the lack of queer perspectives and then realised there kinda weren't any. it's interesting in how it discusses being attractive as a social power, and how women in leftist movements may be pushed into polyamory, welcomed only for what their bodies can provide. it's generally very critical of the state of polyamory, but imo isn't entirely useful for individual queer folk navigating relationships.

UTOPIAN AFFIRMATIONS by ?
- a little zine motivating the reader to act and do what is right for the world through action and art. cool little thing that has pretty art, typography and is pretty motivating

the WHY CHEAP ART? manifesto by Peter Schumann
- manifesto about the good art does for the world and people and why it should be cheap. really really pretty illustrations, good message even if it is occasionally vague. funny how the ideas being countered by this are ones people still have forty years later.

Trash Collector by ?
- interesting person zine about someone enjoying collages; very dense and high detail. not really commenting on much other than someone's desire to be shamelessly messy, but interesting for the visuals alone. though i'll note it's hard in places to identify what text is giving more context to the reader, but that's probably on purpose. poster on the inside is cool!

ZINE! by ?
- simple zine encouraging the reader to make zines with very vague instructions, a classic. i really like the layout and style though.

WHAT'S A ZINE? by ?
- basic description of what a zine is, encouraging the reader to make them and giving a list of specific ideas. not terrible actionable but i like the back cover a lot.

How to make a zine by G*ndershit
- touches extremely briefly on why zines are important to queer history (with some (hard to parse) images of zines from qzap!). mentions the supplies that can be used and has a visual guide on how to fold a7 zines, one stitching technique and mentions edinburgh zine scene locations. not exhaustive at all and much more of an 'easy guide' for those who are new to creating zines. serves its purpose, but a more detailed zine would be more useful to those already familiar with the extreme basics.

make and break manifesto by doruk balci
- discusses the principles behind a group that uses alternative, low-tech digital tools. not usually what i collect but there's interesting fundamentals in here about making art.

The Bookwyrm BookMark Collectors Guide by BookWyrm
- really nice layout, the front and back of each bookmark is shown and a quick description for each is given. i like the rarity listings, and the images of the bookmarks are large enough to easily tell which ones you have. the layout is very coherent and makes a good use of space.

memories of LITERARY LOUNGE session 6 by Attendees of Queer Arts Literary Lounge
- this session was a free for all where people could bring their own books along and talk about them. brief musings about a series of titles, which is interesting but i'm not familiar with any of the books shown. brief enough to make you want to read them to know more, i guess- i can't comment on how good or representative the questions are. however it's very cool that a physical object has been printed as a memory of a physical event that discusses queer media.

FREE PLASTIC TAT by Rising Tide
- fun little zine with a few phrases on the inside about how rainbow capitalism sucks, which was part of a wider mini campaign mocking the corporisation of pride events. i enjoy it :)

Mr Funble's Sunday Portal Leaflet
- advertising leaflet for a comedy show. collaging is pretty cool, interesting way to share info irl! much more suspense building rather than any kind of information sharing resource.
- i have a second one acquired in 2026. this one advertises the show much better with a list of what the show will include, with a picture of mr funble inside. i like it!

Best Wishes...(?) by Sounds Like Shevek
- zine about online communication; it copies a few familiar formats seen often in online communication (such as emails and whatsapp), and talks about the stress of these methods of communicating. mentions professional + personal communications, but also notes how irl communications can be difficult. also a lot of activism stuff is only online, and this is something i find massively frustrating; for safety reasons it makes sense for things to be shared in 'in-groups', but it means that queer folk who haven't found those spaces struggle to find community! very very relevant to current times (2024)!

STOP!! VOLUNTEERING! by Sounds Like Shevek
- this zine is about reframing thinking about trying to build community; it's extremely accurate in pointing out that charities are being used to prop up failures of current systems, but also that volunteers themselves are at risk of burning out due to their own needs not being met. it's not exactly practical on how these things should be done, but it presents several points about current failures very well imo!!

"I don't mean to be RUDE but..." by Emily Harley
- a zine about rude things that the author and author's friends have been asked. there's a mix of comments relating to queerness and disability, and the mixing of them shows intersectionality of issues. i enjoy the illustrated doodles and the simplicity of the layout!

Why I Got Garried by Emory Southwick
- a personal zine about the reasons why the creator got married despite having not seen marriage as something to aspire to; it discusses things like feeling you'll not find someone who understands you. short and sweet.

Let's hear it for Love! by Eliott Giannini
- brief zine about different forms of love; disavows hierachy between them. not exactly definitional, but looks at different categories and mentions a couple characteristics for each. brief and a nice read, veers towards queer issues and anticapitalism at the end but it's still relevant to overaching zine.

Queer Fear by Sounds Like Shevek
- discusses relationship anarchy and fears of a future of where your support network has all coupled off. very interesting and has very good questions, and i think is good for ppl who are part of messy support networks that somewhat rely on people being happy to dedicate 'more' to each other than society typically allows!

Polyamory? In this economy? by manmadezines
- describes the struggles that some polyamorous people face in the current economy regarding issues like time management, schedule clashes and money. short and dense with detail, i'm a really big fan of the style! collage of written text, physical art and the background of everything is a collage too! messy but very cool artistically, not too hard to read since it's a mini zine.

TRANS PEOPLE DON'T by ?
- zine with a series of statements about what trans people don't do; slightly kitschy but very positive about trans folk and what they do that benefits the author, disagreeing with the proposed harms.

Solidarity by Sounds Like Shevek
- interesting landscape and double page format i pretty much never see in 1 page zines! it's a zine in response to bigotry, and is just a few stylised quotes. nice for what it is!

Gender as Reverberation? by Devin S. Turk
- discusses the small tradition of queer folk saying that something random is their gender. turning the outside world into the mirror for yourself, whatever resonates with you. doing it because it's fun and because it pisses some people off! gender can be something you and your friends have witnessed, the feeling of something witnessed, the utility of an object! nice little primer for the subject.

Build -a- GENDER by AL
- picture-based zine with some text collages referencing some physical concepts and some to relate to gender. there is some absurdity at play, what i think is a reference to dysphoria and a partially healed photo of a chest post top surgery. simplistic but that seems to be the point.

Two Million- Genders Are Better Than One by AL
- pretty much identical format to the above zine with references to changing over time, gender being dangerous and quite a few stereotypically macho black and white images inside which contrasts with the pink cover. simplistic but fun.

Queereal Issue 1 + 2 by MJS
- two mini zines full of different real cereal brands, but with queer / trans versions of various slogans. nothing particularly stands out in these, though somehow the issue 2 has harder to read text (dark text on dark backgrounds).

HOW OLD IS HE? ...SHE? by Alexa
- this zine doesn't really 'explore not gender' as the subtitle suggests. it discusses things the author does and why, and the way those things make the author present as more masculine despite not being masculine in gender. overall okay but not particularly in depth.

Mansoup by M. Power
- small illustrated zine about a 'short fat man' existing and doing various things. short, simple and more focused on visibility of the self than anything else as far as i understand

Boy, Being A Pre Top Surgery Transmasc In Summer Sucks by manmadezines
- short zine about a transmasc's experiences with methods of reducing chest size. describes benefits and downsides of tape vs binders. simple and brief.

DETACHABLE BOOBS by Emily Harley
- little zine about the author sometimes enjoying having boobs but sometimes wanting a flat chest. desires are illustrated and described in a really effective way, very clear.

Shapes that I Am by nariarts
- zine that seems to be about the multitudes of identity that one person can have, and that disliking some parts won't stop them from being them. metaphors to transness are in here, the zine itself expresses relatively simple ideas.

Fluidity by Mits Makes
- artsy, vague collage zine about the author's experience with sexuality. pretty design but i don't quite get it.

My First Lesbian Experience! by Hannah Lacey
- about more than the author's first lesbian experience, which feels pretty dumb given the title. it tracks her first relationship to denial to several bunk starts. pretty shallow overall and the text is hard to read in places, especially when small. not much to it.

QUEERS: A dose of escapism by lesslikewaiting
- despite the title, it's definitely about lesbians. collaged with older art pieces of women and text about being a lesbian; has some praising of women's physical forms and sensuality, though at the end there's a brief mention of wlw invisibility. interesting zine, though i think there could be more different aspects handled if the zine was longer (and why is it named queers?)

Gender, Gender? by Lee-Anne, only-two comics
- very short zine, reads as a very simple guide to what gender is. not very deconstructive (end message is literally 'gender exists') but that's not exactly its purpose.

Productive by Bat Stanley
- poses a lot of interesting questions about what someone is if they're not productive in today's society. illustrations are very pretty. invokes the spottiness of disability, not knowing whether you'll be able to do something in the future / when you need it most. largely the zine contents speaks for itself.

Respect by Bat Stanley
- raises a lot of extremely good points about how schools systematically do their best to remove students' autonomy. likely more of interest to a younger audience, purely bc resisting this is only possible when you're in school yourself, or a teacher of some kind (but how much individual teachers can do in such a system is debatable, as other teachers can pick up on uniform much more easily than other aspects of a student's identity that they only share with 1 adult). a zine that presents the problems rather than suggesting any solutions, but the latter isn't really its focus.

You Know You're A Rural Queer When... by Olivia M.
- really like this one! discusses queer youth living in an area where there is nothing available to them. written by an american author but quite a few of the snippets are applicable to a lot of people even around my area, which isn't anywhere near as rural. the hypocritical event is my favourite bit. discusses a lot about hostility towards queerness in school.

And Still, I persist by Charlie Barton
- this zine compares several english animals in the countryside seen as pests, and compares their treatment to the way trans folk are treated. interesting insight into being rural and trans! the combination of photographs and overlaid sketches of animals is interesting; the zine is more of a reflection rather than an analysis.

You Twist Our Words, I'll Use Yours by nariarts
- really really fun blackout poetry from leaflets handed out by anti-LGBT groups to the author's organisation / in the area. i really really enjoy this one! lots of good imagery and word choice.

Stickers on Lamp Posts by nariarts
- poetry zine. seems to be from the perspective of a trans person discussing how what they do is foreign to a cis person. overall alright, not very targeted / focused on what it's expressing.

I am raising child soldiers by nariarts
- a poetry zine based on the author's work with queer youth. difficult topic that is handled in a really interesting way; the author's guilt about the children's circumstances is clear. really interesting framing.

I LOVE MY JOB BUT I'D HATE IT LESS IF IT WAS JUST A PAYCHECK by nariarts
- the author seems to do advocacy work involving queer children; the desperation behind the poem is pretty palpable. i like this one.

My Hands Are Tied by nariarts
- poetry zine with a very cool collage background and layout! i don't quite understand what's being expressed though. lots of innuendos

You don't get to choose by Tiger Lily Zines
- this zine doesn't have much detail, but seems to mention confusion with being a second generation immigrant in the context of a chinese person, as far as i can gather. interesting, but doesn't really provide enough information to give the reader anything but more questions.

Obsessed by Tiger Lily Zines
- very short zine with a poem about falling in love. alright, but it really could be one poem in a larger set of zines, and is also pretty vague.

Your Best Friend May Be A Fag by johnelliot
- big fan of the descriptions of desire in this one. little bit of a call to action to confess desires and to 'get the boy'. i also like the 'get him to realise he likes you' riff; some people really do not know they are queer! nice little ending. a little simple and fun.

First Contact At The Gay Bar by johnelliot
- simple and very effective collage! not very wordy but enjoyable read. pov meets a person of unspecified gender at a gay bar! sweet and simple. i like the colours of the collage.

At Rest by Diddlymarsh
- A series of illustrations about two queer folk taking refuge in each other! very cute and the illustrations are all very nice and well rendered! the last page where they see each other in a crowd is pretty interesting- community even within isolation?

Wet on Wet Zine by Tefefe
- several watercolour images of blurry parts of people's bodies. interesting to parse out what the forms are!

Jesus Zine by Tefefe (correct title unknown)
- perverted + explicit zine about a christian and jesus! fun, not really in depth about much in particular but that's not the point of it.

Love Letter by Tefefe
- explicit t4t zine about two lovers temporarily seperated because one is travelling. once again not really in depth, but there's a lot of fun historical motifs

Wrestle Me by Tefefe
- explicit t4t zine depicting two people wrestling; a fun display of queer sexuality that doesn't really hold much back.

Wet Zine by Tefefe
- another explicit queer zine, but the art is water damaged pen drawings. seems vouyeristic in nature and has some fun images of people existing in their own space.

Cool Male Pin-Up Artists by ?
- zine highlighting 6 artists that do male pin-up art and showing a piece from each. variety of styles with a bit of diversity at the end. part of me doubts that the author asked the named artists to be involved tho...

Aftershow by nariarts
- a zine about two bandmates fucking backstage. it's pretty explicit about what's going on and that the characters involved are being wreckless. alright overall.

lube, toys & condoms by Pleasire Pie + Kink Academy
- a well laid out zine which shows the pros and cons of each type of lube, and what condoms and sex toys they're compatible with. though i do wish they explained exactly what they mean by most (rather than all) sex toys being compatible with one kind of lube.

An Autistic & Kinky Guidebook by Alder James
- a zine about kink, shockingly enough. refutes the idea that autistic adults can't handle sex and discussions of it. zine itself focuses on a few topics; sensory seeking with impact play, sensory avoiding with bondage, rules and dynamics which make things clearer for individuals involved, puppy play which can be a relief from needing to mask. coherently covers all four topics with a brief overview from an autistic point of view, and generally does what it sets out to do.

I'm a pillow princess because I'm autistic by Morrigan Ivy
- discusses assumptions that people have about autistic people and sex. mentions problems with sensory aspects of specific sex acts / parts but also positives. pretty interesting and likely applicable to a lot of autistic people!

HIGH FEMME HOLY DAY by VampFemmeZines
- very interesting discussion of media misinterpretations and changes in discussion over time! discusses butchphobia and how lesbian culture does not always give butches their due respect. interesting read!

Mean Dykes: A Field Guide by VampFemmeZines
- a very nice and digestable opener on patriarchy and how it applies to lesbians- nice to see something that doesn't immediately get mired in long words. asks the reader a series of questions about how they may be mistreating lesbians around them. very succinct and to the point.

Teaching from the Closet by VampFemmeZines
- discusses author's experience of teaching under the current (2024) political climate in america, with students who are out while having to stay closeted for job security. references the past and how old strategies are once again relevant.

MAGIC by nariarts
- a collage zine discussing how freeing halloween is for queer people and how the imagery of witches has unfortunately been claimed by TERFs. nicely collaged and i like the wording within!

Brief Notes on Girlhood by Highlandesq
- this seems to be from the perspective of someone who went to an all girls school who feels as though the sense of sisterhood within the school was universal. seems to identify with the group of being 'girls' but not 'a girl', even though the writer now recognise themselves as nonbinary. lingers a lot more on childhood / girlhood and doesn't really discuss anything about the transition from it to adulthood.

I am a transmasc femboy + Transmasc Femboy 3: Hormones by manmadezines
- first zine resoundly rejects the idea that you need to want to be like a cis man to transition. rejects the idea of the 'acceptable trans' and does so pretty decently, though the writer doesn't go into detail on the points of how these 'acceptable trans' ideals fail in practice. pretty messy style so it's hard to parse in places, but i tend to have bad handwriting so i was alright w/ it! it praises 'cringy' trans folk with very good points for doing so.
- third zine discusses the author's issues with his body and what he needs vs his identity. i must admit that wishing you DIYed in your darkest moments isn't really a darkest moment. you can quit private and go diy right now if you want! the conflicts tho are described well and the collage style here is very appealing.

BEING ONE YEAR ON TESTOSTERONE by Ren Wright
- the author describing the effects personally experienced from testosterone. simple zine, pretty alright. the cardboard makes the folds way less crisp though.

i'm coming up on 1 year of testosterone by Ren Wright
- the needle being used for a stomach injection looks way too long... but other than that it's a short zine about having anxiety when injecting medication. not all of the thoughts are well founded (such as worries about bubbles or hititng a vein).

How do you identify? Ace by katesartthings
- notes problems with ace erasure in communities; the feeling that ace identity is the absence of something rather than something different. talks about how important the label is and the recognition the writer gets from it; very short but also has a lot of clarity in its message!! and the art supporting the text is very beautiful

You People Complain About Everything! by Thursday
- discusses the faulty belief that people talking about their struggles are just complaining about everything, and discusses how the real way to work on this is to improve people's conditions rather than to have them shut up (which only perpetuates cycles of misery). argues against divisions of people who are struggling. formatted really nicely with good art and excellent typography! very nice read.

AUTONOMY by Silas Denver Melvin
- a zine by sweatermuppet wow! defines autonomy with examples, how you can practice it. a little vague on how to help others, thought exercises are suggested rather than anything specific compared to other areas of the zine. general but detailed enough to be useful, and the cover is really great :)

Quick FIRE Guide To Consent by Triztan Stack + Emily Harley
- packed with text, well worded guide to consent in everyday life! i really like the simple examples, and the different text colour backgrounds to differentiate titles, main text and examples. very nicely put together and easy to grasp the contents. i also like the easy points on the back.

DON'T SAY AMAB OR AFAB EVER AGAIN by SturgeonsDesigns
- i really like this zine! it generally refutes basically every reason (social, biological, physical) to categorise by agab and explains why it is very often used transmisogynistically.

slightly unclear who the fig zine is for; words like 'platonic' aren't defined and the examples are a bit dense. also, this zine isn't actually a guide on how to make aroace people feel more visible, it's more a guide of things you should stop doing that make them feel invisible.
the crumble and cabbage zine seems to be largely a description of homophobia and lesbophobia gay people and lesbians the author / people the author knows have experienced. there's a lot in here and this zine seems largely like an outlet, a place to vent frustration.
the sprout and waffle zine is also more venting of experiences. overall this series of zines is an interesting outlet of frustration, but not actionable advice.

Reforming The Gender Recognition Act: A Guide For Beginners by only-two comics
- not a guide to how to reform it but rather a guide about what it does. mentions that changing details on passport + driving license is easy- not entirely correct bc it's possible but GPs can simply refuse to write a letter saying change in gender is intended to be permanent / can make you pay for it as a private service. reforms could add an X as it states but this means nb folk cannot closet themselves for safety purposes; a better approach would be removing sex entirely but unfortunately that's nowhere near as simple. mentions examples and reasons why fearmongering about changes is pointless! overall decent but not accurate.

Let's Be A Trans Ally by Andromeda Zines
- it's okay. there's a bunch of suggestions given but no framework offered for the bigger or more complicated ones. it's also not proof read.

Always Here Always Queer 00 - 07 by Eve Archer
- immediately i like how the author's website lists the zine pdfs for free and has sources avaliable! 16 page 1 sheet zines woahhh. however i have two complaints: it is impossible to decipher the correct order just by looking at the zines themselves, and there is no dating for when they were created. print quality is very nice though, especially for the density of the given content.
- this is a small sleeve wrapped around the set of 7 zines! not entirely sure whether to count this as a zine, but i'll add it to the total number as there is quite a bit of writing, quotes, and pretry artwork. the author describes struggles with identity, the difficulty of writing such a project and the desire to see a more fluid interpretation of history. also a nice encouragement for readers to make their own artwork! the sleeve itself is a little fiddly to put together despite the fold lines but is a nice little holder.
- beautiful beautiful beautiful collaging and layout! the sourcing for this is brilliant! very sensitively done, i love the little bits of annotation added. lots of academic quotes and history included, very pretty work.
- From this point onwards the author focuses on writing about briefer subjects, discussing 4 (or more) in each zine. this one discusses several more and less well known women, though I particularly like the piece about elizabeth etchingham and agnes oxenbridge whose memorial brass displays the women as clearly intimate, which their families agreed to commission. gorgeous with beautiful research, here the 16 page layout truly comes into its own with the differing orientations and the landscape fold that the format requires.
- the cover art for this one is beautiful! one of the edited artworks for sor juana is utterly haunting and beautiful with the colour flattening required for riso print. this is the first one focusing primarily on non western women and there is interesting history about old islamic traditions in here!! as always beautifully respectful with quotes from academics about wariness of applying labels but acknowledging these are experiences that are queer.
- i feel as though jeanne d'arc could have had a whole zine about her, though perhaps that is simply my bias talking. this makes no mention of how clever her arguments in court were or how her words have been translated from medieval french to latin to english for quotations, so her exact words are hard to parse. the fact she is one of the only saints (from my understanding) we have direct quotes from because of her trial is cool but unmentioned! however the series of portraits depicting her face is an extremely cool collage. there is a cool discussion about how she would not have identified with modern terms about identity, but parts of her clearly can be related / linked to them.
- wow the christian stuff in this is cool! madre juana de la cruz and marinos the monk are interesting people, very cool to read about, the queer interpretations of God and of people are beautiful.
- this zine discusses media and deities rather than people. not as interesting to me but discusses interesting aspects of imperfect depictions of queer folk and how media may have caused long-standing poor stereotypes. the deity feels a little misplaced in this zine though.
- quite a few more explosive stories in here; these ones didn't interest me quite as much either; these are generally just a discussion of historical events rather than a dyanmic interpretation of their lives, so it feels rather flat compared to earlier entries.

Queer Archives Vol 1 to 6 by Rudy Tomala
- these zines do go into fairly unknown queer history, but to be honest these are extremely annoying to read. the paper and riso colours are nice colours, but it's seriously awful trying to read any interspersed quotes; my eyes are good, but the text is small and grainy. this only gets worse with smaller quotes, often images copied wholesale from the period. the information is nice and the layout is fun, but i can't really recommend them because of the issues reading them. idk how this wasn't ironed out with later volumes!
- these zines do focus on accurate history, showing how a lot of organisations / publications were often very fleeting and how cultural aspects are often absorbed by outsiders. often allows space for people's own words to shine through (though one again, hampered by how hard to read these quotes are). i don't have any real complaints about the content itself, it's just that the printing method is extremely annoying.

Hey, PP Hartnett... Screw your Exploitative and Normative "Opportunity" by ?
- a very, very well written zine about what the submissions for all the 'QUEER LIT NOW' leaflets are intended to be used for. i'd honestly describe this as investigative journalism. the quotes in here from hartnett are genuinely hysterical when juxtaposed against each other. i really like this one :)

Queer Northern series by Chris Printed This
- this set of zines is an interesting fold out layout, more similar to brocures. these are extremely brief, and seems like they're intended to be more like tourist guides of historical things rather than communities actively focused on furthering a goal. overall extremely lacking in substance and more of a 'this is stuff you could research yourself' directory, which is a bit useless for informational zines.
- the places zine focuses largely on the areas around liverpool and manchester (which... doesn't really mention the east at all. the furthest north it goes is west yorkshire!). the history zine is really not in detail at all, seemingly struggling with things to add (the legalisation of gay marriage isn't really... northern history). the events mentioning anne lister and london pride moving up north probably could've had their own detailed zines rather than a brief paragraph. the folk zine i don't have any real significant comments on because i don't tend to idolise figures. the mindfulness zine is alright, it just has a few basic breathing techniques, but there are absolutely better zines (or hell, shit on the nhs website) that go into more detail. breathing techniques don't work for everyone! (and the poster with the caption 'chill out' on the back of this one feels a bit patronising if you have significant mental health issues.)

Under The Fig Tree: A Queer History Of The Dodecanese by pride_rhodes, reina_gay_bar_rhodes, prwrprideher and gaylittlezines.
- guerilla zine! someone left this in a random independent bookshop and they were being given away for free!
- i am entirely unfamiliar with the history of the dodecanese, so cannot evaluate this particularly well. there are notes on when gay bars have been established and discusses recent history from 2022 and 2024, including a 2022 article extract which mentions a man's gay romance in Greece the 70s. also references to mythological histories.
- it's not the most academic text though: Kos is 'gay because I'm from there' and some other assertions are vibes based.
- overall interesting and surprising amount of info for a zine of this size!

- photography zine collaging several photos from different pride events and associated pictures in england! pretty picture layout and supplemental text about location makes it feel more grounded in place! i really enjoyed it.

I See My Future At The Queer Bookstore by Sofia McClarnon
- discusses the importance of queer bookshops and what they provide! it's very sweet and a nice read, and i love all the images. i really enjoyed it.

Affirmations For A Queer Sibling by crashcantdraw
- a simple zine with some statements that may encourage a young queer person. seems to be aimed for someone with shitty parents, which is fair enough. it's alright.

How To Support Your Queer Kid by Pleasure Pie
- a simple zine on ways to support a queer child. some of the suggestions are specific to trans children. there's some useful links for americans. the advice is fairly broad and doesn't have advice on how to actually get medical support or to change a name.

- very brief but with pretty cover artwork and internal fruit artwork which the text is incorporated around! very positive, seems the aim is to get the reader to reach out to their local queer community and to avoid focusing on hatred.

- a zine depicting trans people that are angels with wings. it's unclear if anyone drawn is post bottom surgery...? it's okay but there really isn't much variation in body types which is frustrating.

- the layout of this one is utterly delightful! hot cyborg transsexuals, as the cover promises, are absolutely provided. differing body types, transmascs and transfemmes represented, largely without bottom surgery but some interesting setups regardless! beautiful artwork and very delightful to explore, the little pink 'previews' throughout are utterly delightful

Top Trans Tips by Gender Identity Peer Support Group (Humankind)
- my first ever zine i collected :) geared more towards teens or children, or those very new to their own identity. urges the reader to find community and to do what they need to do. fairly simple but good for easing basic worries about stereotypes.

I see you: mini zine for trans visibility by Lex Kartanė
- very interesing but also slightly complicated layout; double sided zine but some parts are like a more typical page? lists a lot of things that trans folk deserve on one side and affirmations on another. the writer is a bit older and laments that they didn't see trans people growing up, and they want trans kids to know there's nothing wrong with them. the list of what trans folk deserve goes into material, legal and emotional needs. decently detailed for what it is, though the target audience seems to be younger teenagers who haven't heard these sorts of messages before, as far as i can gather.

In Spite by Thomas Pifield
- small illustrative zine. mentions trans folk inbetween surgery + hormones, those unable to come out or afford procedures + calls for supporting others in the same positions. note that it has fairly stereotypically 'clockable' depictions of trans ppl tho. nice message tho

16 Trans Agendas For The Modern Queer by Devin S. Turk
- not as in depth as i thought it'd be; this is a list of 16 statements rather than the discussion of why they're needed, why trans people benefit from having these things... it's not all purely about being trans but there's a lot of quality of life things trans people often happen to lack. it's something you could definitely have a discussion about the contents over but it's not especially compelling on its own

Things You Should Know About Transmasc Bottom Surgery by Birch Rosen
- this zine is written from a notably american perspective (with access and surgeons) but overall it's a good summary which debunks several misconceptions that people have about meta / phallo. an easy read.

a little bit about... TOPICAL TESTOSTERONE by sweatermuppet
- lacking... the zine tries to explain microdosing but doesn't explain it cannot be used to avoid specific unwanted effects, you just need to stop if they happen. the author also doesn't explain that some people have absorption issues with gel and that this depends on how well an individual absorbs things through the skin. it's also all from an american perspective which is fine.
- the description of the types of transmascs that do gel is a bit funny to me. shoulders and tummy are not places where the skin is thinnest, the requirement is more so muscle + fat being there. telling someone to go read the info from their pharmacy tech is a little funny given the diy zine this author wrote. the author doesn't mention pets are at risk from T gel transfer, which is important to know.

- what exactly HRT is explained confusingly though i do like that the author explains (in a roundabout way) that E and T is normal in everyone's bodies. however there are absolutely not enough ymmv mentions. and no mentions whatsoever of reasonable starting doses. ack...
- overall this is very, very lacking. timeframes are handwavey so i get why they weren't added but jesus. i assume where to access and the resources given are more useful to americans than myself but mentioning 'risks of hrt' for what planned parenthood will discuss when in reality those risks are very minimal is frustrating.

- the info itself is almost entirely qr codes. linkrot supreme! also some of them just flat out don't scan :/ the 'purpose of ' page is succinct and mentions autonomy for trans people in treatment. the information itself is a mix of medical information sites. the info is okay, but there's info about E that's outdated (blood clot risk for surgery is now same as cis women as synthetics are no longer used, but surgeons still follow this anyway) and baseline blood tests are not required. transharmreduction isn't really the most accurate on timings for tests, and other qr codes i couldn't evaulate as they didn't work. sigh

DIY HRT: The Absolute Basics by Patron Saint Press
- USA based zine. for some reason starts out by saying that people should DIY because if you're on T you could have your info forwarded to law enforcement? strange when imo the primary risk is disrupton of care. teating every 3 months is pretty excessive too expense-wise... overall nothing egregiously wrong but occasionally has a strange focus and often misses out the specifics of what matters. however this does give links to reasonably good resources which is makes this much more useful than it would be otherwise (though i dislike the recommendation of reddit). the style and layout is also very effective and appealing to the eye.

- tiny little collage poetry zine. very vague and i'm not sure what it's trying to express, but i do like the line 'mommy's a son'.

Pride Rat Affirmations by Bookwyrm
- what it says on the tin, affirmations with little rat drawings. very cute! generally touches on most things a queer person could struggle with, has a lot of breadth. no depth but that's practically the point, it's comfort rather than a tool.

LESBIAN VANITY PLATES by Vampfemmezines
- a cute little zine with fancy folding. it's full of lesbian vanity plates (many don't seem realistic to acquire tho) which are pretty fun.

How to form an affinity group by Crimethinc
- informs the reader of the variety of things that count as affinity groups (friend groups count!) but never actually goes into informing the reader how to acquire a politically concious and active friend group. does a good job of explaining the power behind them + actions and methods avaliable. notes relevant risks and how to mitigate them. very detailed and good for how brief the guide is!

10 THINGS YOU CAN DO IF YOU'RE SCARED & ANGRY ABOUT THE RISE OF THE FAR RIGHT by ?
- the examples given are very practical despite their intentional broadness, and they are very good starting points for actions the reader can take. big fan of this one. very blunt and promotes improvement of skills and practical help.

how to build community by SturgeonsDesigns
- an extremely practical and well written guide on how to build networks of mutual aid (skills based). the text is slightly hard to read in places (sticker paper zine) but it isn't overly awful. only comment is that the hard mode section is lacking on details on how to start up your own events. generally easy to understand and has practical and sensible suggestions though, overall i recommend.

Queer Space Communism by Milo @ QZAP
- calling this an illustrated manifesto is.. rather hysterical imo. feels unfocused? lesbian potlucks being mentioned makes it feel like queer was an afterthought. 'preserve our herstories' really doesn't help. pretty kitschy? creating events without allies feels reasonable to add but there is no info given on how to achieve any of these things. which makes sense for a manifesto but some shit in here is epicly specific. assuming i have a local 'food not bombs' chapter is remarkably hysterical. and excess produce is not easy to come by given the amount of land broke queer folk tend to garden on!
- terfs fuck off being given a whole page is just.. mildly frustrating. i get it i know they suck!! keep them out of our media grahh! overall lackluster with incongruous terminology, weird specificity and no real actionable suggestions (especially if you lack an already existing queer community).

Contraception and Testosterone by transsexuals of Cambridge, UK
- overall another simple and digestable guide that covers the basic questions someone is likely to have with this topic. i'm a fan of the design and easy to parse health clinic list!
- nitpicks: blockers aren't routinely prescribed for those on T on the NHS, and i don't think the author is trying to say they are, but it's worded quite confusingly. someone with ovaries being only on blockers is a very rare occurance. 'localised estrogen' is probably a more accurate term than 'topical' given the context. unfortunately, getting localised estrogens is more expensive over the counter and may cause questions depending on the buyer's appearance. it's also probably worth explicitly mentioning that bleeding due to atrophy increases risk of STIs due to micro-tears that make it easier for infections to transmit. it would be nice to have more varied sources and the joke source might unfortunately put some people off.

How to do your t shot by saint.ass
- this zine is honestly only useful for people using ampoules, it's largely useless for diy. sustanon dosing is dreadful (250mg every 3 or 4 weeks... yikes) and nebido isn't great (1000mg every 3 months...... not quite as bad as sustanon but it is fucky for some people). it's standard nhs dosages so i can't really blame op too much but parroting them is disappointing. op claims gel tends to have slower onset of effects but that isn't true when you have the same levels. injecting in the backside isn't necessary since you have use any other IM site just fine (that doesn't require you to twist or have the risk of hitting the sciatic nerve) and you can just use fixed needle syringes for subq if it's not an ampoule... really it's a mess.

SO YOU WANT YOUR BLOOD TESTS DONE? by transsexuals of Cambridge, UK
- given the author this isn't surprising, but there's a lot of cambridge specific info in here. it kind of underplays the difficulty of getting a gp to cooperate which isn't ideal. it also insists on choosing the gender mark you want for the applicable reference ranges, which is a bit funny when you can just compare them on your own. promoting what could potentially cause a conflict with a private provider for no real benefit is a odd to me.
- randox is only available once a month in specific locations, but this is based in cambridge so i can't fault it. the randox page does not mention the importance of FBC tests and mentions LFTs, but not that they only apply to people taking bica. it also doesn't tell you that you can email randox and ask them to add FBC onto an already booked test. the back also mentions LFTs for T and cpa (spelt.. incorrectly?).
- overall this very much serves its purpose and is an easily digestable guide, i'm just extremely picky.

Mascara & Hope by nobody in particular
- historical document about transitioning via the NHS in the early 2010s. thank you dearly to the friend who printed and binded this for me! i find it interesting that this doesn't discuss alternative routes at all, but from what i've heard from older folks, that was very much the standard practice of the time.
- astoundingly tongue in cheek. written by self described bitter trans women and it very much shows. it describes step by step of what you need to do to get the nhs to let you transition. generally extremely blunt but it does its job for the time.
- the GIC wait being 6 long months at the time... wow. how things have changed. there's a few typos in here but it is very coherent and well written. however high E being said to create cone breasts is.. agonising. the ascension section is very interesting. i believe that the relative misery of a queer group is very dependent and not all places are full of nightmares. overall it is (self admittedly) problematic in several attitudes but it very much serves the purpose the authors wanted.

A self defense study guide for trans women by Transfighters, Oakland
- extremely comprehensive guidebook. has diagrams and is incredibly realistic about techniques and effectiveness of tactics and how to learn to use them. extremely extremely well written.

How to talk to Trans Youth by Charlie Alexander & Daisy Fatemi
- a zine about how to talk to trans youth, but it doesn't explain how to handle tough conversations (like the subtitle describes). it has to be fairly vague as the authors don't know the reader's situation, but there is a lack of clarity because of this (and the lack of conversation modelling). it's alright and there's nothing wrong with it, but i'm not entirely clear just how helpful it would be to the kind of person that's already picking this zine up.

How to Talk to Parents of Trans Youth by Charlie Alexander & Daisy Fatemi
- this zine is far more specific and detailed, helped by the specific situation it is about. once again, i think conversation models would help give this zine more useability and clarity, but it is fairly clear about what to do (especially about putting the young person's needs first). this one is pretty solid.

Queer Coded by Emily A. Foster + H. E. Smith
- perfect bound "zine"... okay. it's simplistic and rarely describes the controversies or extended histories behind particular symbols, which is a strange choice when they literally have 70 pages to work with. it also isn't entirely proof read, which is disappointing. the flowers and the languages sections are the most redeeming part of the zine, and they discuss several different cultures and their traditions.
- some very basic things aren't touched on, like the reversal of the inverted pink trial to be seen as a more active symbol. also the fact that the red handprint has been used by indigenous groups isn't mentioned in the text (so the purple handprint is kind of a derivative, even if it originated organically in response to getting ink dumped on protestors). the original gilbert baker flag just isn't shown.

Yes I'm Flagging by Archie Bogiovanni
- talks about the history of flagging, how it's used in the modern day, and instructions on the best circumstances to use it. discusses the meanings of the code and has some nice artwork to go along with it! fairly comprehensive while also being brief.

The Pocket Trans Language Guide by Daisy Fatemi + Charlie Alexander
- kind of in the weeds... trans* wasn't in terribly common use back in 2024. nonbinary is fine with the hyphen, though that's a bit of an older way to write it. enby is really not a common word outside of trans spaces! also NB can mean nonbinary or non-black, but context generally makes it clear what is meant. saying MTF and FTM should never be used a little confusing when these are relatively common terms online but i agree with the reasoning.
- it would be useful to say that when talking sbout a well known figure, it's okay to reference a well known project they were in to help the reader understand who the subject is without using their deadname or old pronouns. 'gender pronouns' is a hilarious term. i would have appreciated a note of like, hey, default to they but don't call that clocking trans woman they because you're too awkward to use she... but how you word that professionally idk.
- i did enjoy the part telling the reader to stopping putting those goddamn Xs in every word. but E is NOT widely used as something that refers to MDMA and it is absolutely used to mean estradiol in trans spaces omg
- overall notably american, which to be fair, the writers acknowledge. and dense with some misguided focus. overall my fear is that people will take nit picks on board and keep doing the vaguer somewhat bigoted stuff.

The Pocket Guide to LGBTQIA+ Identities by Rainbow & Co
- accurate, though this reads like a huuuuge list / dictionary, rather than tying history of different identities together. that's probably the point, and they do mention details of older flags (like rubber and gilbert baker) so it's not as if they're ignoring history, but it feels very 2016.

Gender Identity For Beginners by Amnesty International
- not quite a zine but a booklet. aimed towards trans allies. kind of assumes base knowledge of communal terms and ideas? agab getting a mention feels a little strange as well as 'gender identity'. wouldn't really reocmmend this for anyone- beginners would find this vague and allies already know all of this. linking to stonewall feels a little funny nowadays (2025) with them steadily reducing their public acceptance of trans folk after the supreme court ruling.

Dead Eyed Ivy by Fae Wyld
- pretty cool comic! trans woman is sent back in time to save her pretransition self; lots of mentions of relevant mental health issues. a bit rough but cool little read.

Re/searching gender euphoria by Mika Gratzke
- research zine! discusses author's background, low-brow vs high-brow literature, transmasculine and butch narratives about transness and how they differ in presentation. definitely reads as a piece of research; some of it's a little complicated to grasp. talks about author's experiences with zine making in community groups, with practical examples of workshop activities. has a self-interview with the author about gender, discussing the difficulty of seeing yourself out in your everyday life. mentions work by transfems at the end that inspired the author. overall fairly interesting but turns to a very personal perspective at the end.

Give the rainbow back to the kids by Lex Kartanė
- title is from an anti-lgbt saying the author heard in lithuania. discusses author's past: never seeing queer folk around them or in media (occasionally as the butt of a joke) and trying to discuss being LGBTQ+ with their family with little success. mentions the history of prides in lithuania and what growing up was like without vocabulary or examples. discusses author's wishes for the future and motivates the reader with hopes, truths and desires, and what the reader can do to be helpful. not groundbreaking but a nice overview.

Feel It Motherfuckers by Sturgeons Designs
- this zine is about gay marriage in the usa. first it discusses the history of the AIDS crisis and the horrible situations gay men were put through, such as being made to die alone and wills being overturned. the author describes this to put into context why they were angry that gay marriage could be considered assimilationist, but then briefly looks at how the insitution of marriage itself is a privilege. i feel like more could've been discussed about the harms marriage can cause or consumerism. i like the author's ideas about the work of liberation and the historical context, but more could've been written about how gay marriage is assimilationist.

I Hate Choice Feminism by Sturgeon Designs
- very blunt and easy read. defines choice feminism on the cover. discusses how excuses about personal empowerment help absolutely nobody- individual actions are not individual failings but acting as though everything every woman does is feminist is inherently flawed. also discusses how choice feminism can be seen as a replacement for real action. enjoyed this a lot!
- on sticker paper which makes me slightly afraid long term... some corners got slightly messed up in transit so rip.

waiting for you to actually respect me is like watching paint dry by Charlie Alexander
- this zine rants about cis people not respecting trans people's identities and has some discussion of wider problems trans people face. very angry and upset, but the extended metaphor doesn't really make sense to me.

To yeet or not to yeet? by Elliott Giannini
- zine about chest dysphoria. author discusses weight gain and how until recently they did not desire surgery, and the conflict of comfort, self care and personal boundaries with the self vs dysphoria. mentions internal conflict of how people out for less have gotten top surgery quickly but author has no plans to. it's not a very detailed zine but discusses things a lot of people have tussled with and has some linework and self portraits! fairly simple and personal, nice read.

Transition Diaries by Animal Bro
- good lord is there some philosophising in this. nonbinary author is generalising nonbinary experiences / feelings onto all trans people. the concept of hrt making psychological changes... lord. and the schwarzenegger quote is hysterical. the opening page says the zine addresses the invisibility of transmascs, but the contents doesn't do that at all. it feels extremely disconnected and the target audience is very unclear.

Happy Alone & Other Stories by Seleena Laverne Daye
- honestly kind of reads messily and doesn't have too much direction to it; between a couple sections the author ends up having a relationship which lasts over 18 months, and she doesn't edit what was written before, which makes some sense as preservation of previous perspective but also is kind of annoying. zine about asexuality from a personal perspective and personal history with the term and relationship to sex. author talks very frankly about how she navigates sex and her needs and desires related to it. mention of the writer's mother who didn't live with her husband is extremely interesting and sounds like something interesting to logically navigate but this isn't discussed unfortunately (more explanation of the logistics of non standard family setups is important for people to evaluate the sustainability of them in their own lives imo, but also it's a fairly private topic so i understand why ppl don't share details about it). discusses the feelings of not being queer enough and also not wanting to use the label due to the prevlance of white middle class folk using it as a distancing mechanism from their whiteness. overall touches on a lot of interesting things but messy.

Asexual Things I Did Before Realizing I Was Asexual + Asexual Things I Do Now That I Know I'm Asexual by cooklin
- a zine full of short comics about the author's experiences pre and post discovery. the second one has a couple pages duplicated, not sure why that is... overall though they're funny and reflective comics that i enjoyed reading! the second has a bit more discussion of queer infighting and that's to be expected given the subject.

Not Queer Enough by shannwahl
- this is more so a list of things the author has been told, because of being queer and appearing to be in a straight relationship. the author replies to each one with a mix of sarcasm and frustration. fairly simple zine with a slightly misleading title.

- comic zine based on the song by dolly parton. lesbian interpretation of the song, where the singer and jolene kiss. simple and cute with nice illustration, the hands are really well drawn.

Sir, Is This Love? by Liz Yerby
- a mini comic depicting what's described as unrequited love between 2 peanuts characters, marcie and patty. i'm not familiar with the original comics but this seems like a small, sweet, slightly sad comic thingy. also quite cute; the description of it being unrequited skews my original interpretation of it as someone unready to ask her friend out.

- on sticker paper which makes me slightly afraid long term...
- generally a very tongue in cheek zine; it lists many undesirable experiences that broke queer folks have have or stereotypes to poke fun at similar quizzes that list experiences that have nothing to do with being butchfemme, as the disclaimer at the end states. feels like a response to discourse idk much about.

Why Did I Think I Was Straight? by S.Mirk
- discusses author's personal experiences of growing up in the 90s and 2000s. generally rails against the idea that people cannot and do not choose to be queer. doesn't exactly answer the proposed question but interesting read that bucks some stereotypes!

~~Human~~ Nature by Stoatkin
- starts off with a definition of otherkin and therian, which feels sensible. the layout of content is a nice arc of confusion, desires, aspects the author is uncomfortable with and acceptance.
- i would argue that animals do have knowledge of death; as far as i'm aware some animals (crows i believe?) have mourning rituals.
- i'm a fan of the binding used, string that feels pretty solid with the card used. the resources page isn't too overwhelming and has a nice, brief explanation of what value the links may have to the reader.

- pretty zine about seeds, with beautiful artwork! a metaphor for something, i love the art style within.

- no surprises given the name, it's a blackout poetry zine. very short and generally the poetry pieces imply links to neurodivergency. i like how many poems could be feasibly linked to one another!

destroying the GENDER BINARY by ru
- very, very simple zine. i thought it'd be more than some drawings next to a couple queer phrases but that's all this is. it doesn't destroy the gender binary, and only one quote actually references the gender binary? the drawings are generally nice and the style is cute but the drawings next to the quote about they them pronouns made me roll my eyes.

You Are Safe Here by Rachel House
- an interesting fold out zine. it 'welcomes' a variety of people, and on the back sides it describes who the groups are / what they are references to. it's pretty cool, but i'm not especially a fan of the phrasing 'trans queer nonbinary aliens', which has no description. overall though it's pretty cute.

Queer Propaganda by Jamie Wardour
- the art in here is very pretty!! there's queer slogans / associated concepts in here with very pretty art and some brief additions to the slogans in smaller text. the colours are very nice! i do wish though that the hormone replacement page has a mention of circumventing gics though.

gender euphoria: a zine by mick moran
- fairly short zine about how the author experiences gender euphoria; 1st page gives a simple definition and explains that their feelings aren't universal. has fun patterns in the backgrounds! gives space for the reader to add in their own ideas; brief but nice.

Joy & Pleasure by Ru Vodden and Emory Southwick
- riso poetry + art zine. fairly short poems about domestic (familial + romantic) trans joy. lots of references to sailor / ocean metaphors. i'm not terribly into poetry so i didn't find it too impactful, but pleasant read.

We Resist by Artemis and Multiple Contributors
- zine celebrating trans folk and protesting prejudice, according to the subtitle, but generally more about personal experiences with euphoria and sometimes dysphoria. it's a collection of art, photography and poetry, and i'm a big fan of the actually detailed credits at the start. i like the photography of protest signs though a lot of the art feels like it would've done better with its own page rather than being confined to half of one. the print quality is really nice though, a lot of small details are easy to pick out. i also think they could've been more selective about submissions accepted into the project as some pieces are really unrefined. overall a nice collection though idk why it feels the need to tell me that the paper is recyclable. i'm not planning to recycle it... (also how are there so many credits but no publishing date??)

- really nice zine about queerness and masculinity. has many pieces of artwork and poetry and the authors use a variety of metaphors to uplift their message. really enjoyable read and touches on positive elements, negative elements and the discusses the remaking of the self!

The Cowboy by Aiden Cosmo
- very very pretty artwork in this zine! i love the colours and the paper picked. poem is awesome. very very nicely put together.

How To Inject by Kate O'Connor
- immediate pickiniess to get out the way: 25g and 16mm is a bit big for subcutaneous injections, and fixed needle syringes generally make life easier.
- really interesting essay. i'm not well read enough; it's good with a lot of references to things i'm not sure of. the text does a lot of circling to and around different topics. i enjoy it even if i don't get it.

REMEMBER HOW YOU ARE LIBERATED by Éadaoín Lynch + Zosia Kuczyńska
- really really cool zine a friend got for me. poetry about queer archives and history repeating itself. the inside has a piece of blackout poetry that is occassionally jokey and occasionally very cutting. my only complaint is the qr code for 'sources & goodies' which leads to a dead link!

Four Anecdotes about David Bowie from My Own Life by Joseph Carlough
- a really nice zine with very cool anecdotes! it feels like you really get a good insight into the author's life and personality and i appreciate the writing style a lot. i like the brief discussion of gender and sexuality at the end of the third anecdote too. overall a nice, satisfying short read.

TRANS ANGELS + DEVILS by Ren Wright
- no depiction of trans people post bottom surgery again by this artist, and very similar body types which is a bit frustrating. the drawings are quite cute but overall mildly disappointing.

Prayer by Teefefe
- this is a zine showing a character going through all the stages of muslim prayer. very pretty art!! the slightly translucent paper makes a lovely effect when the zine is help up to the light.

Growth by Andreas L.
- this zine is several high detail portraits focused on t-dicks; the colourwork and detail is beautiful! the creator has depicted different body types (though all on the slimmer side), different surgeries, amounts of hair, hormone status, and there is art with someone whose t-dick is a dildo and someone who has piercings! really really pretty, no scars are glossed over but there is also no gore. very very nice read!

G. D. Handle Her With Care And Hope Nobody Notices by Gynoid Distribution
- series of self portraits by a trans woman of her penis. beautifully illustrated with crisp linework and comes in a small sleeve!

Girl Smell by Tiff
- a collection of art about a woman and her office crush, who is a creature! lots and lots of monsterfucking in here. and obviously sex! it's not entirely sequential so it doesn't all makes sense. the art is really really gorgeous!!!

- a list of artists the author associates with S+M. a short review of a small handful of artists- interesting read and pretty cool artwork chosen! has some info from artists about their own work, which adds context.

HOMOSOCIALIST by feripo
- very 'tom of finland' art style in here, and very explicit which is a cool contrast to the theme. a couple quotes on the inside with an a4 poster when folded out; not really a discussion but more a conclusion. very nice artwork and ideas.

- tom of finland art style with a bit of diversity. 3 poems about how capitalist grind sucks shit, nice little read!

Homo-Silence by Connie Minerva
- loads of cool collage backgrounds!! which are very, very obscene! as usual poetry isn't quite my niche and not many of them resonate with me but i do very much enjoy the maze poem. lots of christian imagery going on in this one, particularly with references to jesus and gay sex being holy. overall pretty interesting, i enjoyed the artwork most of all!

Rawhide by Wade Radford Zane
- the amount of rhyming feels... awkward? and the repetition makes me roll my eyes a little. some of the formatting makes it look like the pages were printed / bound wrong as the poem will end with a comma but there is no hint of it being relevant to the theme of the poem itself (and probably not all proofed as there are occasional double spaces). poetry isn't quite my thing, admittedly, but the stuff in here seems pretty aimless. vague anti capitalism poetry with nothing beyond vibes and gay porn poems that are kind of unfulfilling (somehow explicit but not explicit enough?).
- i liked the 'hard out there' poem about giving change to a homeless person, it's pretty blunt and honest. i warmed up to it a little (red hot ruddy fuck and modern mellow meditation were also alright) but it generally felt like it should've been pared down. the photography really felt like it had zero connections to the contents. no images were next to poems that were an inspiration for them or about them. a little mystifying for layout.

Anhedonia Vol 2 and 3 by a coyoteeeee
- didn't manage to get my hands on the 1st volume. both of these are pretty hard to read; orange and pink is much worse on the eyes than the yellow and pink version. 2nd vol discusses punk history, and mentions xray xpex. there's a section about queercore/homocore as a diy genre about queer identity. mentions limpwrist, pansy division + jean-michael basquiat, giving a history and contribution from each.
- vol 3 talks about the history of breakcore and what its characteristics are; describes the history of Aphex Twin, Machine Girl, Igorrr and SewerSlvt. personally not as invested in the 3rd vol as the 2nd, but i'm into collecting queer specific zines rather than music zines, and idk much about breakcore.

POCKET QUEER ARCHIVE: Gendertrash From Hell by Rudy Valley
- thank the lord, these are now on a6 instead of a7. infinitely more readable. however still issues with proofreading!! one paragraph was accidentically duplicated on the first page!discusses projects that the creators of gendertrash from hell were involved with, very in depth tbh with lots of description of their bibliographies and mutual aid work. there's only 4 little snippets of gendertrash content which fills 2 pages of this zine. tells the reader where to find the gendertrash issues online. overall disappointing beyond the historical context given.

jenny shimizu by Eloisa Aquino
- this is the issue 2 volume 3 from 'the life and times of butch dykes'. a small illustrated biography about shimizu who is an openly butch, gay fashion model. it seems interesting but not terribly informative; part of me a little skeptical that she's the only successful openly gay model but this was written 2011 and times have changed (currently 2026). i like the art style though!

- having films described as heavy when this is a zine made in response to friends saying they couldn't find non-depressing lesbian films is a bit funny. admittedly i haven't watched a single film listed, but i now have some recommendations!

Lum the Forever zine by Helen Chazan
- this is a fanzine about a film which i've not seen; the zine is about the world changing without you, coming to terms with it and going to those you love. the last page of the zine provides context about the film. probably more impactful for those who actually know the media but interesting all the same! zine is also a fun landscape format

eca graduate show project guide 2024 by kamal malhotra
- this isn't quite intended to be a zine, but it is in a similar format to an art zine, so i include it. honestly, i adore the artwork in this zine, and the descriptions are great. the layering of riso colours is excellent. the handbinding is really pretty and has nice card for the cover.

We Will Build Our Own Homes And Find Our Own Heavens by Fort
- this is an insert that came with a 2023 calendar, rather than a zine in its own right. has credits for artists and contributions from each about what it was like working on the project.

Against Pinkwashing by Queers & Feminists For Palestine (leaflet)
- written by feminists and queers from china, taiwan and hong kong. it's a dense pamphlet but it discusses palestinian movements working towards acceptance of lgbtq people and women's rights, as well as discussing some issues ethnic minorities in china face. kiiind of messy and not entirely about palestine but it does discuss ways that governments work to perpetuate prejudice in reference to palestine and minority groups.

- presented as myths vs facts. okay overall but weird spacing typo is present in one fact. it's alright.

- a guide to stripping from a queer black feminist in montreal. it's extremely blunt and descriptive, and it gives a good amount of detail without being overwhelming. it's a very concise, clear read. extremely well written, i enjoyed it a lot.

Life After Sex Work by Aitch Elle
- a sequel to 'BBHMM'. the collaging is really pretty, though it wasn't scanned with the best quality. the author describes what it was like to be doing sex work, why the author quit, and worries about quitting and going back to a 'normal' career. it feels very contemplative, describing difficulties in the industry of sex work. very nice zine.

- discusses the effects of impacts from intentions acted out in a bad way; author discusses and analyses personal experiences. not exactly a queer zine but it discusses a difficult topic in a fairly neutral tone, acknowledging the existence of cultural differences. one of those that makes you think a bit.

My time as LGBTQ by Cee
- discusses the author's personal experiences of moving between different subgroups of the lgbtq community due to changes in their self understanding. a pretty personal zine that's more self reflection than anything else. doesn't exactly pose many questions but that's not the intent

I hate the rainbow. by Cee
- discusses personal history of participation in rainbow capitalism. author talks about identifying with things they didn't even like because it gave some sense of queer community, which is definitely a relatable feeling i had; sure this thing doesn't interest me, but it means we're here somewhere! indirectly discusses the isolation of of queer youth: it's hard to find community that accepts under 18s and is easy to get to for people with bad parents (i see it in person too often). author calls rainbow capitalism exploitative which really does sum it up. a good brief + personal read on how rainbow capitalism will not save us and does not replace community

It's good for some by Mx Jinn
- discusses the author's poor experience at a muslim queer event and their past. it feels more like a list of bullet points rather than a coherent story, in a sense? discussing what the author has been through and a bit about the present. the afterword gives more context but this seems like more of a transitional / something the author needed to express rather than a full story.

Your Whiteness is Boring by Cleopatria
- there's a printing issue with this zine where it got folded off centre so some of the text near the page fold is cut off.. disappointing.
- the zine is formatted with small essays on the author's experiences with white supremacy in society, parricularly in trans contexts. there's a little bit of japanese exceptionalism in here but overall it's a very enlightening zine. the descriptions of coping mechanisms and lack of resources are very pointed and sharp.

It's No Big Deal by Raezor Beam Dreams
- defines nonbinary identity succinctly and moves into the meat of the zine: no matter how people get things wrong, the author asserts self identity. discusses misconceptions with presentation, how to not out people and how to get things right. the author mentions black identity and how it ties into gender which is interesting + informing to read! the author also discusses how trans folk are mistreated. interesting recommendations list at the end and generally a good primer on how trans identity is more nuanced than 'born in the wrong body'!

letters to our parents by Cassolotl and others
- starts off with a very short introduction about how this is letters (sent and unsent) from queer folk to parents (cool), then a glossary which is unsurprising but not exactly compelling. there are 6 people's letters. these have varying lengths and parental supportiveness. a lot of interesting themes are discussed; worries and questions about identity, anger about abuse that delayed coming out. really related to the mention of disliking 'valid' thanks to overuse!
- a little bit of a product of its time; there is a hope of improvement that's been lost these days (2025), but still a nice read regardless.

Coarctation by Thursday
- opens with brief history of the author and context of what the zine is about! the zine is largely artwork by the author about the day of the heart surgery. shows the process of preparing in small snapshots and waking up; the claustrophobic framing of most of the images is extremely appealing and adds to the unease of the work. the back of the zine shows the author's thoughts about lack of acceptence from parents and the subtle typography changes are really good at showing the emotion behind it. really enjoyed this zine!

Trans Liberation Or Transphobe Destruction by Tipsy Rat Press
- overall seems well meaning with some clunky word choices. not entirely who this zine is for; it starts out with a section on myth busting detransition, which feels like something trans people already know is a falsely elevated statistic in studies transphobes like to reference. however the references given are useful for some actual stats. there's discussion of helping a partner through top surgery in here which is cool.
- not sure why the author is writing 'transmen' instead of 'trans men' in here, and talking about invisibility of trans men in the trans debate immediately makes me a little nervous. the points the author brings up are actually very specific and important for the health of trans men, but trans women also are often impacted by the issues described. the use of the word 'misandry' also makes me grimace. lived experience of being assigned female at birth and typically being socialised as female... eurgh. less shelters being open to men isn't misandry, it's a factor that comes from misogyny.
- why are we discussing jk rowling in here... i am sick of hearing about her... come on... in 2023 her essay was not exactly a recent piece... really strange mix of assumptions about the audience and what they need to hear.

Trans Rights NHS Wrongs by WritingsFromTheMoss
- discusses the function and background of the nhs, treatments avaliable, and the difference between trans and cis treatment (though i think the author overestimates the amount of surgical intervention cis men with gyno get on the nhs).
- the author discusses how the nhs could be improved to stop systematically mistreating trans people, but doesn't go into much depth on this; the zine largely just explains in plain language and analogies how the nhs functions and fails. it does this very well, and also comes with a little leaflet about how to make complaints.

Trans Equality in Schools and Collges by NASWUT
- this isn't really a zine, but this an interesting publication i picked up from a pride event where NASWUT happened to be.
- discusses definitions and uk law. discusses in depth steps to take when a teacher, student or family member transitions with case studies attached. (bespoke pronouns is a very charming alternative to 'neopronouns'!) unfortunately guidance on students is probably outdated at this point due to transphobic changes in the law. a decent time capsule.

archive it ourselves by Kirsty Fife
- very easy to digest zine! hand written but easy to read. briefly explains the importance of archiving and gives clear instructions and examples on how to do so, suitable for a variety of skillsets! easy read without being too brief and gives jumping off points without being overwhelming.

Don't Just Do Nothing To Counter Fascism by ?
- takes lots of its morals from jewish teachings! really nice zine with specific ideas and suggestions of ways to build frameworks to benefit people around you. takes some stuff from history as examples and suggests some very big projects as well as small ones.

Use Your Creative Work For Mutual Aid And Community Strengthening by OPTICTUNA
- in depth and specific zine! it's focused on a selling art perspective, but many of its principles can be more broadly applied. it makes everything a bit more managable even though it tackles topics not directly applicable to me. i'm a big fan of this one and the author's own model of work.

Movement Power by Tipping Point
- frames itself as a toolkit but assumes some base level of knowledge xkcd 2501 style. for example the first page spread discusses reframing power, but asks the reader what types of power they have without defining what counts as power.
- another example: it has a diagram of pillars of support for the status quo but does not discuss what exactly are push and pull factors or what they do. sure they can be legal, financial, social or political but how do groups impact these things? it describes the 'basic concepts of momentum organising' but if you do not have active popular support (like in the uk in 2025 for trans folks, the media is very hostile) are you just meant to continue taking hits until these moments come?
- 'you'll need different absorption tactics and tools ready for each layer' i would like examples. this toolkit feels like it is meant to be used for those already in the know / already with a group. and a big group too. how many direct action groups have a regular induction process and the time and energy for slack? asking for a map of your group in relation to unions and thinktanks is a little hysterical when you are one person doing direct action.
- the tree of resilience exercise feels pretty vague to me. rest is pretty important for not burning out, but instead you get 'what nourishes you' and 'what connexts you to others'. from my experience many people who burn out just disappear entirely.
- the random colouring in page is kind of amusing lol.
- the case study feels terribly lacking. it vaguely discusses how a group stopped an oil field (very few particular actions discussed) yet the timeline shows that dozens more oil fields have been set up for approval a couple years later. not really a good example for a long term successful movement...? i guess it could be trying to get the reader to participate but if you are already in an active group (as this assumes you are) i doubt you would have the energy.
- climate reparations are mentioned and it reads a little like a cold open...? it gets a single page and does not actually explain what they are or mean in practice.
- lackluster and vague read. feels like it was made for those 'already in the know' or already active and is more of a reminder of things to keep in mind that you should probably already be working on. 'whatever you're working on, let's work togetherr!!' feels hysterical to read as an individual not actively working on climate change stuff. ultimately i get the idea but jesus wept it is presumptive. 'a toolkit for building people power in a time of crisis' if you have a big group and a lot of energy and already know what's up.

Liesel Burisch's Nightlife series by Gorilla Milk
- the entire series contains lots of references to wider literature about nightclubs which is super cool! (sometimes the references are a bit vague though.) however i believe it needed more proof reading before printing which is a shame. the way clubs work is entirely unfamiliar to me, so this is a really interesting series. this series is written by someone from germany which likely impacts the contents.
- the shortest entry in the series. the quotes all being in gold is a nice touch! discusses sponsors (and how they can cause issues), different avenues for making money, why space is needed and what kind of financial emergencies you can expect. i really enjoy the layout and the discussion of free from vs free to.
- i'm not quite as big of a fan of the artistic features of this volume. this starts out with some more individual aspects of how you can be nice to those around you and your non consuming friends, and discusses safety and recovery from come downs. then it swaps back to the perspective of event organisation; how to be accessible and how to make people aware of who to go to (without them looking cop-adjacent). selectors are something i am entirely unfamiliar with so it is extremely interesting to read about how to improve their function. details about how to keep people safe. it gets very dense at the end with this information but it isn't too intimidating; i like the contents.
- proofreading issue in the title... 'losing' has been spelt as loosing throughout the entire thing unfortunately. this one has screenshots of videos, with an image description for clarity (useful as these zines are riso printed and the images are in neon pink). this one discusses becoming big enough for people not part of your group to want to come to your event. it talks about how to interact with police and policing your attendees. the ending is a bit vague imo but overall a lot of interesting information.

The Trans Dimension: Guide To Inclusive Events by Gendered Intelligence
- there are opinions from many trans folk answering questions the zine poses about accessibility and inclusivity, a focus group type of deal. very nice format and explains what to think about and change before and during an event. it's more of a guide for those hosting an event and it comes with a list of questions the organisation that produced it uses to evaluate events. not terribly useful for me personally, but toolset.

Next Level Ally by Eli Sache
- very firmly directed towards allys in social positions of power. i find it a little funny how speaking up on solcial media is consisdered a significant thing to do, considering the state of the internet, thought considering the author found out being trans was a thing because of it, i am not entirely surprised.
- i do enjoy the many many examples of specific tangible ways cishets can act in favour of queer folks, and also the specification of boundaries when it comes to events specifically made for queer folks in mind, rather than those that are open to the public or convincing others to host them.
- quite a bit of focus on the reader not feeling sorry for themselves especially in the contetx of having made a mistake, which i feel is important and relevant. however there is some usa based description of laws and rights which may not be so relevant or up to date these days (2025).
- also a very big fan of how gender neutral language is discussed but opens up with the caveat that the reader likely should aim to gender trans folk they know correctly and often. however i do think there is an argument to be made for gendering visibly trans folk you do not know but can generally assume are aiming for a specific presentation. however it is overall pretty solid imo!

How To Support Your Non-Binary Family Member by Elliott Giannini
- guide for a family member on how to productively process + respond to a family member coming out. very well written and well laid out, gives thought exercises for the reader. gives advice to both parents of adults and children on how to support their child.
- the zine then goes into definitions and how to make sense of the family member's identity, words and misconceptions. goes a bit into the weeds on this imo but the rest helps diffuse surface level issues. it's 50 freaking pages so you'd best hope your family member likes to read! but it does seem to be a useful guide.

what are your pronouns? by Cassian Lodge
- an extensive guidebook (self admitted) on how to talk about nonbinary people by the author of the gender census! this goes into linguistics and history of linguistics (and how it's changing!) and other languages. discusses how to confidently correct yourself when mistakes are made and demonstrates common situations. the examples and tables shown are very clear. 'it' gets a special mention near the end. very very comprehensive but not something to give to a newbie! would recommend for allies interested in learning more tho.

PRONOUNS by Noah Brown, Daisy Fatemi, Charlie Alexander
- the images are a bit low res which isn't ideal. explaining prescriptivism and descriptivism in here is... a lot. overall this zine explains things well (such as why a trans person may want you to use different pronouns in different settings and how to correct yourself when you misgender sometimes) but it explains a lot all at once and asks the reader to do a lot of work. i hesitate to say this is everything someone needs to know (not any discussion on they/themming only trans people being impolite). i'm not entirely sure what group this is targeted at / made for.

non-binary zine by only-two comics
- a basic guide on what being nonbinary is; uses a 'spectrum' analogy (triangular) and gives a couple identity definitions. gets a bit in the weeds of 'is nonbinary trans' which is overcomplicating it for an wasy guide. tells reader to not assume identity from clothing and gives basics on pronouns (including neopronoun examples) and dos and don'ts. the back comes with a sheet for the zine owner to fill in for reader context. (listing terms to not to use feels pretty backwards though)
- zine being handwritten is stylistically bit more interesting than print but doesn't make it the easiest to read for large blocks of text!

aromantic by ewen cluney
- this is a zine about an aromantic persons's experiences with family and the people around them. the author doesn't make being aromantic a significant part of life, but it impacts the author in many different ways. it discusses some differences between aromanticism and asexuality, the author being both. it's pretty alright.

Bi Plus Identities leaflet + Bi Progress Pride Flag leaflet by Biscuit
- not a zine, but here for completeness. there's a few definitions of different multiple attraction sexualities (described as bi plus, which feels controversial) and the history of the bi+ progress flag and meaning.

Bi the Bi by Becky Peel
- the cover describes it as a 'zine about coming out to yourself' and that feels pretty accurate. the main character is in denial abut having crushes until the end, and it's pretty simple and cute!

Bi Culture by Vintagenemoart
- the definition inside isn't really accurate; bisexual people don't necessarily need to feel a romantic attaction to a different gender as well as their own (e.g a woman who likes nonbinary people and men). some of this zine is about bi stereotypes which could be argued to be culture... there's history of the flag and bi angles in here and some info about famous bisexual figures in here. there's also a bisexual chair with no names or contetx given for who made it or when other than 'a father built it for his daughter' which is a bit frustrating. the design is nice and colourful but the content is a lacking.

Bi Sex U What? by Laura Saunders
- discusses history of education in the uk and section 28's impact; uses answers from an open-ended survey to aid direction in explaining bisexuality. there's a bunch of label explanation which is classic for info about bisexuality (and a page on flags). gives reasons for why people bother with labels and reasonings people decide on specific ones.
- lots of mindmaps and annotated diagrams! these don't have the best scan quality but are relatively legible and show a lot of ideas all at once. describes queercoding in individual dress and its purpose and pitfalls. there's a reading list and some links at the end. imo a little too into the weeds but it is aimed at queer or questioning folk so assumes some understan ding (and awareness of queer infighting lol)

Man-Hating* Bisexual by Birch Rosen
- this zine is SO LONG. it's not really a zine in contents eirher, it's more a long coming of age essay. i like the notes from the author now looking back at their past self. it's really not that insightful. 40 pages of varying quality experiences the author has had with (mostly) men. i didn't really get anything from it.

Lesbian Bar Travel Guide by Femme Dyke Zine
- feels um.. middle class? all USA bars are in NYC and all the other bars are western europe. i don't really have much to compare or judge these reviews but it seems pretty interesting, the reviews explain the positives of each named bar and negatives with photos that i believe the author took.

Small Histories Vol 1 and 2 by Rudy Tomala
- these are much more in depth than tomala's a6 mini zines, though they suffer from the same pitfalls of images with text being barely readable, though the main body text itself is a bit easier to read due to it being larger. i happen to have the lino print cover editions for both of these. tldr is that they're good overviews for people only familiar of a topic by name, but not exhaustive: more of a pointer at what exists.
- flagging zine gives history on usage, origins and current usage. it briefly explains other physical symbols given to signal queerness. several pages are dedicated to showing several different table variations for the hanky code (not terribly legible). a mention i really liked is how quickly gay culture is absorbed or changes to mean something else in today's world. interesting adaptations of the code (artistic and satirical) are also given!
- polari zine begins with definition of the term and then divebombs into dictionary which is a bit confusing when context and prevalence isn't established! the timeline and evolution of the language is fairly brief, but information on how it was used (and continues to exist in english today) is interesting. there's a bit of bad editing with cut off sentences. the section on artist's work is by far the most fleshed out, looking at a variety of mediums and practices.

This Zine Will Turn You Trans by Dayelayeart
- really cool zine! i really like this! collaged together and bright pink, it looks at many different historical trans folk, giving short biographies (no biography given for marsha p. johnson, but to be fair, she should be well known) and explanations pf their work. generally in good humour it interspeses biographies with trans positive and derivative collages- but the hating on jkr is really tired :/ and occasionally lists someone as a trans icon with little explanation on what they actually did.

Gayze (The Ladybug Zine) by Edi Bennett + other contributers
- bad start: all the text and some?? images are blurry. the fact people don't get proof copies never ceases to amaze me. almost feels as if this was made for a different size of zine and never got reformatted. also no proof reading, there are simple mistakes like missing full stops in the first piece. i also don't think clothes were the most important method of queer resistance, but it's a fair enough thing to discuss...
- a lot of the photography work feels like it needs some words to go alongside it, though it is very pretty. i also like the poetry inside, which i tend to be very picky about! the last submission about archiving though felt like it needed much more room (possibly its own zine?), it feels too vague to be particularly useful.

altqueers by Aurora Andersen
- please just tell us if you wanted to do a photoshoot with your friends instead of dressing it up as an exploration of how queer people express their identity through their clothes. AND PROOFREAD WHAT YOU WERE SENT! 'espepsially' how did you not notice that typo. 'my style changes everyday' why is she in the same outfit for 7 photographs. how did you find only 3 she/hers for your photoshoot in MANCHESTER!! this was clearly done all in one go as all 3 participants are together in photographs.
- overall it's like. FINE but why on earth dress it up this way. the text submissions are very lacking compared to most of the photography which is actually good. the poster feels slightly hilarious to me i cannot lie. these girls feel kind of tiktok alt to me. pristine white shoes in a photo set taken in a grungey alley with graffiti all over it does not help in the slightest. i could find better alt outfits just at my local queer meet up. also the 'draw your own alt queer character' page is genuinely hysterical. what do you character?? this is just who i am! what a confusing confusing zine.

dieu et mon droit(s) by Artemis Hatfield
- unfortunately simplistic... 'vote out the tories' in 2024 feels... lackluster. there's some stats and stuff about issues lgbt ppl face but it's not that compelling. feels like an A Level art project with more polish.

LGBTQ+ History Month by BALTIC
- not coherent at all, which is kind of expected from a group zine ten people contributed to with a total mish mash of topics. there's some cool letter press and relief printing in here and some brief pages on LGBTQ+ figures but this very much feels like a draft or experimentation rather than a fully fledged idea.

Queer Joy by Forward
- collab zine about queerness. unfortunately quite a few submissions are blurry... as with many collab projects, it's messy and not all entirely about queer joy, but it's a nice snippet from a queer community i'm not personally familiar with.

STORIES OF STRENGTH Volume 1 by PLUS Group, Pride Action North, Amy Langdown
- this zine has a boot print on the front because i dropped it and then immediately stood on it. awesome.
- i have no idea why the editorial decisions for a zine with the focus of making people listen to queer kids were made this way. why did an adult digitise a load of kid's drawings... it turned some of the the contents into average motivational quotes. it's hard to tell what's an editorial descision and what isn't; are the random biographies done by queer kids or not and if so, why are they included? these aren't queer kids, they're well known adults. it makes the contents a bit more confusing. when something is clearly made by a kid the lack of coherency makes more sense, but it's weird with a zine that has some polish to it. very odd.

Trans Day of Visbility Collab Zine + Pride Collab Zine by MJS
- generally pretty unfocused, but they're both zines made at a public gathering by many contributors, so there is no real way to make a cohesive theme in the given context. cool snapshots of an event.

THE GAY AGENDA by Vintagenemoart
- very, very simplistic zine. it's a zine about how there is no gay agenda but... it really isn't anything to write home about.

Homosexuality Inversion Zine by For A Lark
- this is a blackout poetry zine based on homosexuality, a book published in 1955 calling for 'tolerance'. the content is 'inverted' (referencing the old term for homosexuality) to be positive about queerness / condemning hatred lf it.
- i really like how the zine is laid out; there is the original book pages on the left blacked out, and an easy to read transcription beside it. there's fun blackout styles and the poetry is fairly short and emotive!

Don't you love existing as a minority in a country rapidly removing rights you once had? by Cur
- very political poetry zine, as the title may indicate. the memes interspersed with the parts not directly about trans death are well-made; the whole thing practically vibrates with anger. the series of headlines on page 9 is very effective! poetry isn't often my thing but these are very well written.

We Can't Be Friends by ?
- a succint zine explaining why the author isn't friends with people over politics (on topics such as welfare, disability and lgbtq+ identity). concise and has some good emotive quotes.

Girl, Subject To Change Vol 1 by Bat Stanley
- looots of discussion about how schools are horrible for students and systematically violate bodily autonomy. gives some advice for students (though limited in use due to differences between schools). there's not that much discussion on gender within schools, much more about issues with autonomy in other categories.

Wrong Body Right Time by Fae Wyld
- zine about how trans folk don't always know they're trans as a kid! has a lot of discussion about how there can be signs your overlook or experiences you don't have the words to explain. also discusses missing out on stereotypically gendered childhood experiences and gender euphoria. not terribly complex and serves its purpose!

Bad Hair Day by Fae Wyld
- journey of a trans woman's haircuts. advocates fighting for the haircut you want but doesn't really tell you how to do that. shows some struggles and ends on a positive note.

Sleepy Time Gals by Gynoid Distribution and others
- zine about trans girl's bedrooms. artwork with thin lines doesn't have the best fidelity due to the printing method. discusses feelings of comfort and safety in bedrooms and sex that takes place in them. poetry and art focused.

Taste in men by ?
- hasn't been photocopied amazingly well unforunately (bits are cut off). a somewhat miscellaneous collection of thoughts about being trans-masculine and how the author navigates society (with associated feelings). a sad read, it seems the author struggles a lot based on the anecdotes within.

how do you know what your body is by Shiloh
- a zine about identity which uses some excerpts from "testo junkie" by Paul B. Preciado. the author describes fearing losing connection with black women from transitioning and no longer having a place to be. the word collage on page 4 is my favourite.

GENDERFAILZ by Alix Kemp
- a really good zine about a gender non-conforming trans guy navigating the medical system to acquire hormones. the adding of identity documents and medical history and guidelines really paints a picture of how hard it was to navigate these systems fifteen years ago. the gatekeeping is described in a very matter of fact way and i appreciate the clarity.

Gorgon by And About Sout
- two interconnected pieces; one discusses trying to save money for top surgery when in poverty and the reality and conflict of this. the second part is more poetic; discussing stasis in nature and then discusses more and more of current society. good reflection of the world.

Obligatory Manzine #1 + #2 by Erik Tinsley / Oblivion Spin
- a set of comic zines about a trans guy. #1 discusses a bit of his past transition history and prosthetics.. #2 'if it wasn't' is longer and has much more dick-related content, and a lot more of the authorxs emotions are described. i really like this insight into the author's life and the touch of discussion on how treating cis men and trans men as different kinds of people is transphobic. the author has some fears about phalloplasty, specifically about graft sites. overall a very personal series that is depicted well even if a bit disjointed.

Yeah But We're Just Bros Issue 1 + 2 + Diny and Lilu by Dykenosaur
- sorry but i seriously don't like these zines. they very much feel like... AFAB identifying trans guy nonsense. lots of 'boydyke' stuff but no discussion of the meaning of being both a man and a dyke? somehow? quite a bit of content is repeated between these zines. they just seriously do not speak to me. sometimes there's recolours / variations of previous pages in the same zine. it feels egregious.
- 'have you ever like... kissed a tboy. made eyes at each other' yes i go outside. discusses so many Trans Events and gymming purely through a tboy homoeroticism lens. internalised homophobia is treated like an in joke / aesthetic. no subversion or depth other than 'omg what if something bad happens'. there's quite a few pages of advertising own zines or gofundmes, which okay fine but when they're in the middle of your own zine... this isn't a youtube video. everything in these is all written by one person which means you don't get a break from the pre T bristol boy. utterly mindnumbing.

Trans Masc Vibes by Sounds Like Shevek and Hail To The Zine Baby
- really undetailed zine, feels a little more like it'd work better as an a6 mini zine. it's effectively a bunch of trans headcanons; cool, but not really in depth at all. just gives characters + a couple quotes from them, if that. 'vibes' is the correct word. that's all there is. no substance

This Is My Voice by Devin S. Turk
- begins with an explanation on why documentation is important; there are a couple of biographies and notes on social media presence. not particularly focused or in depth. feels a little bit like some copied reblogs.

Xem Skaters #1-3 by Aimé Dabbadie + multiple contributors
- zine about nonbinary skaters! it seems to function much more as a showcase of cool people that skate rather than anything else. there's some adverts about music at the start and an interview by a zinester. i really like the formatting: the interviews have been typed up, cut up and then scanned in :) and interviews are largely what this zine largely contains. i know absolutely nothing about skating including relevant culture, but queer stuff interests me regardless! lots of images in here of the subjects being spoken about, a lot of credits and links. in general it's a zine that exists more to show a community exists and to share some projects people are up to. list of genders feels uh... largely dated. there's some discussion of people first skating in a girl skater group and later going into a trans group but this isn't really discussed. not particularly in depth but interesting snapshot.
- a lot of the images are a little underexposed in issue 2, but this is fixed in issue 3. #2 has a guide on how to make a skate night, which is pretty cool! lots of interviews in both of these like in the first issue. not all the interview questions are good in issue 2; quite a few times the interviewees can't think of anything specific to answer with. a bit more artsy stuff and some more photo-shoots in 2 and 3. both end with a list of genders (a bit kitschy), other zines (cool to see what was around at the time) and songs.
- author clearly improves at putting these together with each issue; there's more focus as it goes on and it's a cool series with a nice goal. there's a good variety of people involved in the project, and an offensive piece skate terminology in issue 2 has a complaint published about it in issue 3; the author is clearly open to feedback and is working to make the skate scene more accessible, even if mistakes happen along the way.

A Crustation Station Zine by Cabbange
- magenta and black zine! very distinctive colours. it's for a crab based band. contents is largely just quotes (possibly lyrics?) with collage of the band for a background and art of crustaceans on top. fun and a cool way to create interest. much more of a music thing rather than a queer thing tho, not what i usually add as it's not a strong interest of mine

Pink, White & Blue Issue 9 by Jade
- a fanzine of what seems to be the author's own band? this doubles as a programme for the event this was distributed at. not really a zine at all in content, largely a way for the author to give information about those taking part in the event, the event's fundraising purposes, and those who helped it become real. however that makes it a useful and effectice piece of material to serve as archive information for the event itself! the timings for performances absolutely did go off the rails, as expected!

Spike from Buffy is a Lesbian by izabel angstmann
- couple of typos in here but it's an intereating essay. i've never watched buffy the vampire slayer but this takes dialogue and analyses episodes to discuss the sapphic themes the show explores in the relationship between spike and buffy. detailed while still being largely succinct with the individual points it makes, and an interesting read despite my lack of familiarity with the show!

Tales from a queer commune by unattainbleblonde
- intricately decorating an entire dollhouse is absurd but that's what the pictures in the zine are of. i think the descriptions of characters go on a bit too long. sometimes the text has poor contrast on the background. the mini comics are sometimes funny and sometimes not really anything. the pictures showing off the dollhouse are crazy though, there's so much detailed collaging and painting and furniture. a bit stereotypey but that's kind of the point i think? overall a fascinating zine.

JOHNNY KNOXVILLE IS BISEXUAL by LettersToAnIsland
- author discusses a variety of media that knoxville has been involced in and why the author relates these things to bisexuality. a very fun zine, a lot of passion and heart to it, though i am not personally familiar with knoxville.

Dyke Love + Dyke Magic + Dyke Rage poetry anthologies by Dykehouse
- dyke love discusses food, cultural divides. the mindmap poem is really beautiful. feels fairly modern. i really enjoyed it! even though i'm not usually a poetry buff it was very nice.
- dyke magic has more themes on witchcraft, mythology and christianity. more artwork than the first zine. both have discussions about queer futures; overall both really good!!
- some of the text is a bit tricky to read in dyke rage because of the grey gradient overlapping grey text. a lot of the poems i didn't really get / i don't think fit the theme. the last two poems are really the only ones i enjoyed and felt like i got; the last one especially so, it's gorgeous.

Queer By Gum Issue 1 + Issue 3 by Queer By Gum
- the first zine has a lot about queerphobia and small resistances as well as queer spaces in general. it's a fine enough zine, for some reason i just didn't really connect with the contents inside of it. there's quite a few pages complaining about something, but no solutions being offered.
- the third zine is a bit funny. despite the name it discusses racism and acephobia near immediately, discussing things queer eutopia isn't rather than is. barely any pieces are actually about queer eutopia and basically none are about how we can get there. bit of an awkward lack of focus!

Modern Queers Issue 16 - 20
- really nicely edited newsletter!! sad that i only caught it right at the end but it is lovely, good amount of content and submissions aren't too long or wordy. unfortunately a lot of stuff mentioned is down south though! very nice to have a physical piece of community.

DIY NEWSLETTER GUIDE by Modern Queers
- dense but specific guide discussing the constraints the creators of modern queers were working within and what their goals were, with questions to prompt the reader about their own diy newsletter. nice to have with the final issue.

Would Like To Meet... by SheHerTheyThem
- do you ever become afraid. even just the name of the group scares me. no cis men? do you see trans men as inherently less dangerous than cis men? what about lesbians who use he? very very curious considering that it says it is for 'dykes of all types'. FLINTA is another interesting acronym to use...
- the project itself feels quite 90s and seems like an honourable goal; a free print zine for sharing ads.
- however in practice: the requests for meeting up with no given area are a little hysterical. almost all of these people seem to be in london. the furthest north this goes is manchester. criminally afraid of the 'AFAB to Transmasc Genderqueer Timeline'. trans women where? there are 19 listings for a 3 month time span.
- 'beyond queer hubs in big cities' is utterly, utterly hysterical for a tagline. resilient offline space resisting fascist powers and cis men... oh boy
- got a little bit of highlighter on this one.. swanky.
- front and back cover is identical, the text in the contents is slightly smaller. 24 entries this time, so not that many more. however eleven of them are repeats!
- not sure why when you open the zine to the full fold out it goes upside down? this is present in both issues, idk why it isn't the right way up.
- there's a couple things in here that are less interesting but overall. nnnot an entirely promising issue... so many long repeats

The Helpful Information Gazette Issue 3 + 4 by rrobynne
- issue 3 has a list of orgs on the front page and for some reason a picture of a hand showing one symptom of EDS? not sure why that's there. the bust card for south england is cute. shortened hyperlinks for injection supplies (wih no description) is actually diabolical. i'm also not sure why only intramuscular injections are mentioned.
- issue 4 was meant to be on an a3 page, but my printer doesn't do a3. the list of organisations nearly takes up the whole first page, which is cool. page 2 made my eyes glaze over but the examples of ways trans people do things that don't impact their realities was nice and actually communicated the point the author was trying to make. the injection advice isn't perfect but it's not terrible, but the the blood test advice suggests way more expensive options than needed. no links for injection supplies now, thankfully. i also doubt how many of these surveys will actually be filled in... the recommendation for bicalutamide over dutasteride is a bit funny to me. 'skinnyfat' made me cringe. overall it's okay but the amount of links sending you elsewhere is a bit absurd.
- overall the goal of this is a bit unclear. there's some advice that's useful but a lot of it is links you need to type into your phone, the lists of organisations could be helpful but it's all kind of dispersed across the UK, and the gofundmes on here haven't hit their goals in years...

Trans_Muted Issue 6 + 7 by Trans_Muted and contributors
- indexing by category of context is a nice quality of life decision! though having to print artwork in black and white when it was intended to be in colour isn't ideal and does not make the clarity very good. basically all text is supplemented with artwork with adds a lot more visual interest than text alone but i wonder who contributes it sometimes. generally hit and miss imo, emphasis on the latter.
- issue 6 begins with a bit about funding which is a little interesting to see. immediately the gender ratio seems off; almost all of the art pieces and poetry are by transmascs and a lot of the poetry is about dysphoria and validness and whatever. honestly there's a lot more creative works in here than i expected to see but that was me not entirely understanding the purpose of the journal. almost all the short stories were unbearable to be brutally honest. i just could not get into them at all! and so much of this is poetry... and then an academic text almost right at the end is just madness. and then a zine. extremely higgledy piggledy.
- to be very honest i went into issue 7 with extreme doubt but i found it more compelling than 6. defining pinkwashing in 2023 in an editor's note is a little funny though. the 'not long now' art project seems pretty interesting and i like the poem about san francisco. generally more discussion of transphobia in the poetry section and variety in topics. a little more variety in the people submitting as well, from what i was able to gather. the short stories in this one are better though still not always good. the sisterhood of callistemon was a really interesting read tho!!

GRRRL IN PRINT Issue 4 by GRRRL Zine Fair
- holy cowww spiral binding. is it a real zine if it's spiral bound? i'll leave that one up to the reader. the typesetting isn't great though, in some places the background seems misaligned or makes the text hard to read. some of the art is blurry which is just bad. idk how it can be this weird when on the surface it has a high production value with a glued on slip in the back and everything.
- this describes itself as a diy guide and it's kind of massively all over the place. foraging, sticker history, clothing tips. inevitably the whole thing is kind of southern. interviews aren't something that are exactly a diy guide but sure. some of the interviews though as long as hell and turn into adverts for a thing. the art stuff feels a little like a kitschy aside? idk.
- endo getting its own thing is cool but late autism diagnosis feels pretty pointless. you're not getting anything from it, realistically (in 2025). 'make a social media post to come out as autistic' come on now. also calling in sick is not an act of rebellion and saying you can do this because you do your job well is ridiculous. the best factory worker in the world cannot regularly come to work late.
- 'socialised female' 'AFAB' 'womxn' ow... how's the feminism with no terfs going... and a zine making tutorial kit and video costing 25 quid is hysterical. overall not really queer, kind of feminist, unfocused and almost entirely from privileged viewpoints :/

Narratives Collective - Identity by Brighton QTIPOC
- the numbers on the contents aren't entirely correct which isn't great. identity was supported by a project named brownton abbey which of course means they get their own big intro via interview format. which you're thrown right into with hardly any introduction, and seems to assume you know what's going on. you also the entire brownton abbey collective 'unpacked' with some artists getting descriptions and some artists seemingly including bits of their own work instead? messy.
- then the zine goes into the QTIPOC collective's 'identity' which once again, has absolutely zero introduction. idk where this happened, when, or why. absolutely no idea. the contents being inaccurate is particularly troubling in this section as it contains artist credits, and the page with the piece generally doesn't have the artist credit on it. at the start each piece has its own page and usually a statement by the artist about it and often their reasoning / broader practice but this rapidly trails off into pieces with very little context. some pictures are blurry which isn't great and in one case credits are cut off by bad image alightment. strangled high and low production value?? overall really aimless.

Pride Around the World (Queers Gone By Vol 2) by For A Lark
- overall format is an introduction about stonewall and then it lists a load of countries by continent with info about pride parades. it's strange that the africa heading lists several countries that it calls 'the more queer-friendly African countries' but only actually discusses half of the ones listed (south africa and lesotho, and it only discusses their history of pride parades) rather than all of them and how they become more queer-friendly / origins of queer-friendly and lgbtphobic beliefs. really simplistic and reads a lot like someone's powerpoint slides / wikipedia pages. a lot of these have lists of events with the year they began happening, or number of attendees from a decade ago; i don't think the author looked for primary sources. the lack of proofreading is clear. lots of missing punctuation and occasional typo or copy and paste errors. overall it's simplistic. not terrible for describing how queer folk exist all over the world, but it really doesn't tell you anything about the communities involved.

NONBINARY by j. nyla + contributers
- overall this is a disjointed series that doesn't particularly go into depth on what it means to be nonbinary. it goes off on several related tangents, but it largely discusses how difficult it is to be nonbinary in a society built for a binary, which isn't quite the same thing.
- issue 0 i had to restaple because the originals were very off-centre. some of the words defined inside are not really used this way anymore (as of 2026). the definition for intersex isn't quite right and the way intersex people are used as a 'foil' that validates nonbinary identities is not very comfortable to read. the discussion on passing is also odd; trans women who pass are also considered deceptive. trans / nonbinary people without dysphoria may still get medical interventions, and feeling the need to define truscum is... very 2016. overall an interesting time capsule but wow is it dated. only two people made this one and it does show.
- issue 1 is submission-based zine and an interesting mix of things that sometimes fit the themes. however there is no real discussion on 'how do we navigate a society that marginalizes us, marks us as perpetually foreign, new or other?'. the contents page is just unreadable, as are a couple other pages. it's mostly venting and simplistic 'what does my gender feel like'.
- issue infinity has a very, very pretty front cover. half of it is discussion of the erotic based on audre lorde's work. 'transqueer' is defined and then discussed throughout without much clarity. it's much more coherent than the first two issues but still quite confusing. the art is very, very pretty though.

DOCS IN A ROW 1 + 2 by Kai Welch
- the images being made high contrast to the point they are pure black and white are so beautifully done, they're each works of art in their own right. the objects are laid out in really visually appealing ways, the photography work for each figure is gorgeous. the printing is slightly streaky but it doesn't detract from the contents of the zines thankfully.
- edition 1 as expected discusses and shows many images of items dykes have used to flag their identity to others in the know, modern and historical. the layout of content + context is refreshingly polished and legible while still being personal to the author.
- edition 2 discusses lesbian nightlife (and the last thereof!)
- i like the little description of where the figures came from just after the glossary! starts out by describing the dire state of lesbian nightlife in london today, and briefly compares it to what is available for gay men. ironically one permanent lesbian bar is gay men only on a friday... also some discussion of class and how one of the 3 options lesbians have is too expensive for the author to go to. however i do find 'passing the same 20 quid note around' funny, as around here we say passing the same fiver around! discusses how issues with rent and landlords make it near impossible for new spaces to open up. unfortunately this zine wasn't fully proof read for typos tho which is a bit of a downer...

G*ndershit Issue 1 - 3 by G*ndershit
- i utterly adore g*ndershit's work!!!!! their collab zines are utterly amazing, and there's a really nice mix of text based and image based artworks!
- issue 1 has a lot of toilet based artwork as the title indicates! lots of tongue in cheek stuff in here. stuff about dysphoria but also cruising! lots of toilet interpretations. bunch of poetry and the occasional longer piece of writing.
- issue 2 discusses online queer spaces! lots of techy collage, information from the artists about their own pieces included. lots of discussion of using the online as escapism or an outlet though i really like page 3, 4 and 20.
- issue 3 is one of my all time fave zines. gay parties and night life! loads of discussion on desire and sex and freedom!! overall pretty raw and cool and discusses differences without trying to do anything like find the 'real answer' or anything else gross. a comfortable and provocative read and homely!

I love you forever is murder by amy etherington
- first issue of 'A Series of Attempts'. a beautiful, beautiful piece of writing about how a trans woman's coming out to her partner destroyed their relationship. i find it kind of hard to parse because it's very dense with sentences that sometimes have parts i interpret wrong at first, but overall it describes some extremely important ideas of transness and how cis people relate to its existence. the brief descriptions of the author's and author's ex's interactions are haunting. i really, really enjoy it despite the complexity inherent to the writing and topics at hand.

LOVING WOMEN + LE PONEY by Jordan Hell
- a series of attempts #3, which describes itself as a pamphlet. i didn't really get LOVING WOMEN. it reads to me like a load of references to things i'm not well read enough to know (that's my bad). at least the art in it was nice? i don't understand how it's a manifesto.
- the pink paragraphs in le poney are ind of hard to read. it seems to be... fanfiction about pink pony club by chappell roan? some internalised homophobia from religious beliefs is in here. i enjoyed THE GOSPEL OF ANGELICA ŽIŽEK which discusses a lot of different power dynamics (race, class, educator and student) overall confusing and i'm not really sure whqt the author was getting at.

Euphoria Prints Vol 1 by Rudy Tomala
- this zine feels more similar to a little gallery rather than anything else. it doesn't seem like many pieces were created specifically for this zine, rather artists submitted work they already had. there's nothing wrong with that though it's just not perfectly coherent. quite a few artist statements and the like. some of pieces in this are really cool. more like a little review of trans art. however some of these... don't particularly fit the theme of euphoria? dysphoria and mental illness stuff are the focus of some pieces which feels like poor editing.

Queer Diary Zines by Queer Diary CIC
- each zine opens with a description of context and a collage of people naking zines in the background.
- cool collages!! i really like the 1st zine's 'bedtime' page! generally messy and focused but that's to be expected when the zines are collages of pages from zines many different people have made. awkwardly not all the photographs are entirely in focus! i really enjoy the tongue in cheek zines and the mini series of more complete works, especially in the 2nd and 3rd zines! overall pretty cool to look through and get some ideas from. really feels like it starts to get its footing after the first one.

Revenant by James Roses
- volume 0 discusses the author's experiences of mormonism. quite a lot of the art and images of text are blurry which isn't ideal. largely discusses mental health issues with religious imagery based artwork. despite the title there aren't that many references to transgenderism though there are some pictures of diary entries.
- volume 1 contains works by several collaborators. it has some pieces of artwork and some very long interviews. these tend to be much more about mormonism with the queerness being a related aspect rather than the other way around. despite the subtitle of queer mormonism it seems to read much more as being from the perspective of an outsider of an in-group in general. i suspect this is largely due to my own upbringing (not very religious) but i find a lot of these hard to understand or feel the importance of. interesting even though i struggle to understand it.

My Taxidermy Angel by Rein Lee
- more of a book than a zine to honest. very pretty artwork, focuses on religious trauma! relationship with lots of power issues and trauma hanging around in there. homophobia is a huge motivator for stuff going on. the plot isn't terribly clear, neither is what has happened in the past, but it is interesting even with the lack of clarity. very nice colour choices and curious read.

Tidal Waves by Rein Lee
- really interesting format! two sides of one lesbian relationship, both unreliable narrators. interesting way to depict an abusive relationship and the artwork is really pretty! not an easy read (physical abuse, cycle of abuse, outing, alcohol problems etc) but it is incredibly interesting!!

tempo by abi watson
- comic of two women on a dance floor interpersed with moments from the past of them hanging out. a liiittle bit tricky to parse at first but it's quite sweet at the end.

Your Body Is Your Own by Pixie Authoress
- only a couple pages and is blackout poetry from a book about christian womanhood. focuses on the importance of autonomy! has some fun lines about enforcing boundaries and how it is never too late to do so.

Sex Poems by Pixies Authoress
- this one is based on similar material as the above, also blackout poetry, and a little longer. generally praises sex as sometiing important and good to have, which isn't applicable to everyone, but that's blackout poetry for you. i like the wordplay!

The Little Grayscale Zine Of Sultry Sodomites by Chris Printed This
- starts with a mistranslation of leviticus 18:22 which is a bad start... really is just, as confessed, an excuse to fill a zine with classical male nudity. kind of a weird attitude right off the bat. referring to the men as sisters is a curious gay slang retroactively applied to uhhh.. Michaelangelo. half of this zine is artists and half is creations. i really am not sure how much research was put into this one. definitely some, but the vagueness around some historical bits and the 'fun fact' type of framing makes me a little suspicious, along with the note on the back about artistic liberty being taken... as someone who knows little art history this is kind of a funny read because idk much about the people being mentioned, but i don't know how much the author knows either. would be better as just a collage tbh.

Self Portraits by Jody Evans
- really interesting photography zine of an artist's self portrail playing with gender and self presentarion the mix of mind maps, process notes around photos and high quality images of shots the author liked are cool! love how all the stuff for process is scanned in; handwriting isn't always easy to read but that doesn't detract from the zine itself. very cool!

IDYL TRACES by Helen Chazan
- a fanzine about catherine jones' idyl. the back is a quote from jones about her experience growing up and transitioning. the author traced strips from the comic in pencil and then inked them, making utterly beautiful and occasionally vague ghosts of the original version. very very pretty appreciation of an artist.

Finders Keepers by Helen Chazan
- a trans woman tracing over heterosexual porn! terribly vague when it comes to where each part is meant to start and end, but the tracing is really nice work and the dialogue is pretty humorous; the subversion of tropes by making them explicitly trans / queer is cool! as usual, beautiful artwork.

Isn't It Time You Took Scissoring Seriously? by Charlie Alexander
- a collage zine entirely about scissoring! the pages are very pretty and well collaged and the collaged sentences are funny and to the point. enjoyable read.

This One's For Us by Diarmid Goss + others
- butch pin-up zine!! big fan of the blue ink. all art and there's a lot of variety of style and content. loads of furry and kink stuff, which isn't surprising in the slightest. pretty fun even though a bunch of this art doesn't appeal to be stylistically; this zine doesn't fall into the pitfalls that most do with lack of diversity!

Sexualise Your HRT Shots by Sturgeon Valentine
- a friend helped fix the binding for me :D! i have absolutely no idea how the zine author stapled it wrong, but i suppose that happens sometimes?
- the author gives an easy list of kinks that could be involved in sexualising hrt shots. the zine has beautiful illustrations demonstrating some of these methods! the bodies depicted are not the most varied unforunately but it has some very nice ideas in here.

T4T zine by Andreas L.
- 8 page zine with art of t4t sex! spmetimes the hands are well formed and sometimes they are... lacking. i suspect it has to do with whether they were taken from a reference or not. i like the back cover of a pre / non op trans guy that is hairy quite a lot :) seems to be mostly art of trans men and penis related? not exactly terribly diverse unfortunately, but there are a variety of hair textures.

- story of a sex worker who witnessed the aftermath of a car accident. not a terribly big fan of the art style but it has a lot of clarity. really really interesting way to portray a conversation where someone didn't know how to be honest about something. makes me feel weird when i read it but very cool! i also really like the resources at the end with the aim of decriminalising sex work!

Pretty Boys Don't Belong On Oil Rigs by Andreas L.
- sci fi porn zine with horror twist! based on an idea of oil rigs in the future and two men working on one in isolation. kind of has a transphobic mention by one of the characters which is interesting, and mentions sex as a way to liberate yourself from shame. not terribly in depth but interesting idea.

Afterparty + Pain Party Vol 4 by Pain Party
- - Afterparty was published 2022 with Pain Party #3 (which I don't have)
  - Pain Party #4: Everyday Kink published 2023
- Afterparty's first piece focuses on the intensity, pain and euphoria of synchronised swimming, and how the aurhor has only had similar experiences in kink spaces. the discussion of breathplay is interesting but i forever fear ir as ir has a real risk of killing you x_x. there is a piece on the pain of ballet which is really interesting and the few art pieces within are also cool! overall enlightening.
- Pain Party #4 is a collaborative zine with a load of pieces about how people incorporate kink into their everyday lives and spaces. really really interesting contents, a lot of stuff where people really open their lives up. difficult to summarise but i highly recommend! very nicely put together and thorough contributer credit is given.

Pleasure and Pain by Wade Radford Zane
- ackkk bad handwriting and poetry is an awful combo... mix of poetry and photography with the poems discussing sex, pain and generally how the two intertwine. excessive amounts of rhyming in the poems and the images are very rarely related to the topic at hand; it feels like a pleasant surprise when the they actually are relevant. lots of mentions of bad sex / sex that makes someone feel bad. occasionally there are clever rhymes but generally it just goes overboard.

Got Fucked by Anon
- discussion of sexual experiences, starting at the present and working backwards. there is a huuuge list of trigger warnings at the start but more helpfully the relevant ones are also present before each person described (through trigger warning is a funny term for referring to a threesome). not a fan of the term 'small afabs' but okay whatever. generally full of a lot of bad sex and bad experiences. lots of internalised transphobia stuff too. not much analysis in this one.

Fucked + 2 Fucked 2 Furious by Kirsty, Anna, Hannah, Tasha Tristan
- the first zine discusses being sexually dysfunctional in sex-positive queer spaces largely in the beginning. a lot of the discussion is from people that live as women having sex with men. there's a lot of descriptions about old abusive / traumatic relationships with diary entries, but the whole thing is actually decently coherent. i liked the discussions about polyamory and being sexually available being expected, but much of the zine ended up feeling like an exercise of catharsis rather than descriptions of navigating queer spaces. overall a decent read but there isn't much content actually relating to the subtitle.
- the second zine is by the same creators on similar topics. it opens with them talking about how far they've spread across the uk, which is cool. there's more personal stuff talking about the authors' relationships. i like the piece about fucking not being revolutionary; it discusses a type of queer community i haven't really experienced that's very nightlifey and it's interesting to read about. there's some poetry and art in this one, which is new. overall similar to the first, mostly seems like an exercise in catharsis rather than actually talking about sexual dysfunction in queer scenes.

Slow Pleasure For Trans Folk by Zephyr Nyx
- not entirely proof read which is disappointing.. the explanation of what transness is a bit woo-ey. this is intended to be used as workshop material or for solo journalling, which is probably why the contents is a bit vague, but in my opinion it's too vague. the notes for further reading are nice. gender fuckery and validness aren't concepts everyone is comfortable with having applied to them but the writing doesn't really allow for that. there's also the implication that dysphoria causes trans people generally to dissociate from their body which isn't true, some are constantly keenly aware of it, and can't accept it as it is (which is why trans people change their bodies). some concepts like 'staying small' go undefined. the zine asks the reader hard questions without giving a framework of how to answer them. (i also really don't feel present during adhd hyperfocus, i generally feel like i've been posssessed, so this is an individual experiencebeing generalised.) 'kink' keeps being described as if it's one discrete activity. overall it's vague and lackluster, and the activities aren't all explained in full. the collage on the cover is fun but doesn't give a good idea of what's inside.

HOPE CHEST by ?
- looks like it has been scanned in more than a couple times... this is a zine about non-flat top surgery (partially in a canadian context). very in depth zine which gives the reader lots of questions to ask! there are some diagrams and terminology explanations. the only real thing this zine is missing is explicit discussion of breast tissue removal post feminising HRT. it gives lots of questions to ask before surgery and before getting a revision, which is helpful!

Let's touch scars! by Nullodyke
- fascinating zine about nullification surgery! the author goes into personal reasons for choosing it and how the process went. there's pictures in here! really really cool and in depth, i can see the appeal of this configuration.

Sex With Trans Men by Dion Nolan
- 'answers to all your awkward questions' is on the front cover and i'm not terribly sure how applicable that is. simple guide that discusses language, dysphoria, anatomy, consent and health risks. the suggested questions feel very boring, though the dysphoria and langauge parts are fairly basic and simply written, which is the point of this zine.
- the drawings of anatomy are pretty accurate, and the descriptions of sex acts are well written, though i'd like to note that 'up to 3 inches' is a pretty optimistic measurement to give to t-dicks; a lot of people get an inch, if that. i wish a little more info was given on how some trans guys never get erectile devices and how sex can be pleasurable with a soft penis / external devices can be used!
- the info for gay men about cruising feels a bit stereotypey or babyish, but 'trans men may not pick up on cues' is a fair thing to mention. the info directed at women is pretty decent. the discussion on STIs and pregnancy risk are pretty solid too. overall pretty decent.

Bigenital Revolution by Hyde Goltz + Jey Pawlik
- the idea that the author was the first person to 'bigential surgery - two functional sets of genital' in 2015 is kind of insulting. and very american. and what does functioning genitals even mean? despite the subtitle on the cover it's not '(very) graphic' (though i suspect this may be a joke based on 'graphic novel'). the fact the author feels the need to protect the surgeon's privacy is kind of hysterical. and in 2015 there were surgeons doing both UL and an implant. and then after all this bigging up, the author tells you about Les Nichols (who has this surgery in 1980?! how are you the first???). utterly fascinating quantity of self-confidence. very interesting zine. describes some personal stuff interestingly but wow. not one i'd recommend.

Fucking Trans Women (Issue #0) by Mira Bellwether
- utterly amazing zine. '80 page giant' is an extremely appropriate thing to have on the cover. this thing wiped out my toner. absolute favourite. discusses the name of the zine, anatomy, communication during sex, fetishisation of trans women and how to treat a woman properly. discusses how to pleasure a trans woman (or any soft penis!) and muffing with diagrams! interspersed with relevant, well written personal articles. some bits aren't terribly easy to read; i guess that's what a couple rounds of printing and scanning will cause. really great, extremely interesting and well written. i wish i could find anything about subsequent issues (plans, contents, drafts etc) but i am not aware of any that exist.

on being the same kind of girl by KS & JG
- two trans women talking about their lives and relationship, one that has been out for much longer than the other. absolutely beautifully written. total whirlwind of past and present but it's very coherent and full of love. lots and lots of discussion by both women about sex and the emotions related to it. there's discussion about how trans women fucking trans women is different to cis women fucking trans women, with associated explanations, which is pretty interesting to read. there's also a whole load of photography in here, both sexual and not. utterly wonderful zine.

SWAPPING GENDERS WITH MY EX by Cee Lavery
- the art in this comic is really lovely. the page with the text 'like the exchange had already become' is wonderful. really lovely story and it is a nice depiction of change. the troubles from their respective insecurities compounding is someth i relate to a lot and shown really nicely!

TRANS FEMINIST SELF HELP ZINE VOLUME 0 by Cat Haines
- a zine about the author's experience of vaginoplasty and the social circumstances around it. the zine aims to be part of a series promoting trans health and communal care, but i'm not actually sure if any other issues exist. the interview(?) with the author and friend doing a vaginal self examination is pretty cool! a nice read and quite introspective.

Tucking Safely and Effectively by Daisy Fatemi, Charlie Alexander, Rainy Batroff
- zine #1 in the Transition Series. very comprehensive and easy to read despite being 35 pages long! some paragraphs about validness and gender are in here that feel a bit kitschy, but overall it's an extremely informative zine with diagrams and a lot of questions answered. very well put together and well written information.

Binding Safely and Effectively by Charlie Alexander, Daisy Fatemo, Rainy Batroff
- zine #2 in the Transition Series. i wish they mentioned that trans tape it just kt tape (which would decrease the price point significantly, and also needs its own guide for removal and application). the amount of time someone can spend binding is more flexible than implied; for some people it's too painful to continue after 3 hours, for some people it's 16 hours. a larger binder / swim suit can work for some people swimming.
- what mostly frustrates me is that the zine says top surgery can be complicated by binding, but not how. surgeons do say this, but whether it means worse surgical outcomes or that they need to spend more time liposuctioning fat is unmentioned. it also frustrates me that they don't explicitly say that binding a lot still means you can have top surgery. overall it's okay but notably more fear-mongering.

Packing Effectively by Charlie Alexander, Daisy Fatemi, Lynn Irwin
- zine #3 in the Transition Series. overall very in depth about the options available, with some kitschy stuff about gender like all the other zines in the series. however it'd be nice if there was more info on how to position the packer on the body when aiming for a 'standard' silhouette (particularly for diy options).

The Trans Lady's Guide To Getting HRT in the UK by ?
- fundamentally flawed in a few ways. the idea that private care will speed up what your GP gives you is wrong. it may work for some people (as it did for the author) but GPs are not required to accept anything from private providers as legitimate. the costs are outdated (unsurprisingly); nobody will diagnose gender dysphoria for 200 quid anymore (it's 500 at the cheapest, in 2026). the police also will not necessarily send you to the 'right' prison cell because of the gender on your passport (and nowadays, in fact, they won't do that unless you have a GRC). also the letter saying your transition is intended to be permanent can be gotten off of your GP anyway. (i also don't really believe that nonbinary people are pressured into interventions they don't want.) the risks of diying aren't correctly described. pills don't fuck your liver, and bica doesn't always fuck your liver. in general this is made with good intentions but has several fundamental inaccuracies, and feels very middle class (in the assumptions the author has and the way the author navigates interactions with healthcare professionals).

DIY HRT HARM REDUCTION RESOURCE PACK by ?
- the cover on this is cool as hell! the first two pages are pretty comprehensive, but i'm not totally sure why the text is so small. what saddens me is the recommendation of swapping needles... not necessary and exchange supplies sells fixed needle syringes that work for IM in the uk... sad. a couple weird errors too like erroneous paragraph breaks.
- i'm not sure why peak is recommended for testosterone tests, and the blood test recommendations continue to be weird. the other recommendations are mostly okay though... i wish there was a date given for when the blood test price data was acquired as it's slightly out of date. overall this is definitely okay but it's a bit lackluster in execution.

COMMON DIY HRT DRUGS by ?
- the layout and design of this is awesome! however, while there is nothing egrigiously wrong or dangerous in here, some of the suggested doses aren't great. it also recommends unnecessary blood tests which can definitely be a financial barrier to some trans folks, which can cause a lot of stress if someone is anxious about their health. however, it is very clever and comprehensive in its design, i really enjoy it.

Queering Intimacy Workbook Zine by The Queering Intimacy Collective
- a zine that is a framework for workshops or a workbook for an individual. it describes relationship anarchy as the basis for this zine and goes on about it for quite a bit. the manifesto at the end is pretty cohesive and well written and i agree with many of its principles.
- i'm not completing this as a workbook so my review might be a little off kilter but this really seems more suited for a group environment where people's ideas can bounce off each other and branch forward. there isn't much space to write for the prompts given, and there's some saminess about the issues with the word intimacy that makes it feel as though many similar people have contributed. the writers seem very experienced with workshop environments and not as experienced with how individuals may approach these ideas; the photographs of whiteboards from sessions are occasionally more of a compass for what the zine is asking than the text itself. definitelybetter in group format than individually, but even individually it raises many interesting ideas and options about ways to expand relationships with others.

Complicated Relationships by Ardent Press
- an interesting set of interviews about polyamory / non-monogamy + an faq, though i think the faq would be a bit better as the first thing in the zine. there's a lot of discussion about emotional asepects and how hard it is to get polyamory to work well, rather than to work in short isolated instances; though it also criticises the idea that either monogomy or non-monogamy is naturally better: they both have their own problems. it criticises the idea that you can just logic your way out of jealousy for instance, which is a pretty good point tbh. overall a decent introduction at the end + interesting overview of logistics in the interviews

nonbinary babes by Ren Wright

- zine full of nonbinary robots! the art style is cute and fun, and the artist has managed to depict a fat person (woww). overall i wish it had more to say but it's pretty cute as is.

A World Of Plenty by Kamal Malhotra
- beautiful typography on this one! lots of epic epic cyborg trans stuff. absolute favourite!! 'I MAKE MY BODY MORE USEFUL FOR MY PURPOSES.' is such a great great line. lots of epic fiction bits and analysis about gender and categorisation. some cool mentions of porn and masturbation; transmasc focused but that makes sense considering the author, though this writer also never writes in a way that seems to exclude trans women, which is unfortunately rare and very enjoyable to read. poetry collage is so amazing. the art is gorgeous and the collagey stuff is so amazing and just. wow! what a beautiful beautiful zine. a beautiful work of art.

The Transsexual Manifesto by Teefefe
- i really really like this one! it's metaphorical with some calls to action, very pretty artwork and phrasing. not a fan of the usage of 'hondosing' though. however, very poetic and has important mentions about healthcare and art. first page ahs a delightful poem about how we are all part of each other.

BOY* by Shiloh
- this zine has a lot of typography work and images taken from various (credited) photographers. the zine asks questions about how the author relates to transness and the author's own body. bold and snappy, and i like the blue ink on cream paper.

Monstrosity by slvrfshmetalwlf
- discussion of relating to monsters in media as a result of being dehumanised because of transness and relating to them because of dysphoria and fetishism. loads of references to media. lots of artwork of monsters in here! also some poetry with particular themes about the author's experiences. bit of tumblr creeped in here (voidpunk section comes with screenshots with tags like #afab nonbinary). overall fairly interesting discussion on the topic though.

Korpus by Maryan Cadiz
- starts off with discussion on flawed scientific papers (brain gender / attraction) which is an interesting start, and generally discusses chromosomal sex. discusses author's bad experiences in STEM subjects and her failure to defy systems of power. discusses feelings of individual responsibility in the context of misogyny. has some quotes from other authors discussing misogyny. definitely interesting but it feels much like working within a system rather than outside of it, and not particularly developed from a queer lens (in the sense of someone who is queer and has done queer things).

Destroy Gender by Lena Kafka
- veryyy much from a political framework. discusses gender as an apparatus and how it limits womens' capabilities. feels very much like it is complaining about intergroup politics when it discussed how femme is being used in place of 'woman' in the 'radical milieux.' discusses how basically any attempted divide is inherently flawed and how many new terms are problematic in nature. the part 2 discusses things the author failed to include in the original piece (colonialism) which i know too little to comment much on, but there are a couple pages copied wholesome from another worknin this response. lackluster, kind of made my eyes glaze over, and feels like a response from a specific time period in a specific group that i have no context for.

When To Critique A Trans Woman: A Helpful Guide by Samantha Kruger
- zine opens with a discussion on how cis and nonbinary people often villainise and attack trans women. there may be more worth saying on the subject of trans men here but the main part of the zine is a flow chart. flow chart is pretty solid! it effectively assesses how vulnerable the trans woman you intend to criticise is and whether you are being a shithead. i really enjoy the graphic design and the pink paper, it definitely stands out!!

YOU'RE WRONG: TRANS POLEMICS by C Bain
- kind of feels dated because it's based on jk rowling's whole essay on trans people back in 2020. the writing is from an american perspective (medical insurance is rarely a thing in the uk, and it won't do more than masculinising top surgery or genital surgery). overall this is long and winding and seems to be an exercise for the writer to release some thoughts their had about jkr's essay. there's a lot of discussion about the relative places of trans people societally. not sure how i feel about it.

Whose feminism is it anyway? by Emi Koyama
- a collection of essays (and occasionally poetry) by the author. the first essay about fat positive feminism conflates fat-positivity and pro-ana, which really makes me grimace. i do like the discussion about fatness being related to other axes of discrimination but ouch.
- the transfeminist manifesto is a really cool essay. i love the emphasis on confronting institutions that damage personal choice while allowing people to do whatever they want with their bodies, no matter whether the choice 'counts as feminist' or not. the discussion on male privilege is interesting, though i should note that many trans women are not particularly assertive or confident. though i do very much like the comparison of saying that a trans woman is privileged from being seen as male is like saying a gay male couple has more privilege than a straight couple bc both parents have male privilege. the discussion of intersex people in the topic of sex being socially constructed is very well worded. describing electrolysis, hrt and surgery as 'inhumane' is strange to me. sure it takes time and costs money, but the benefits of feeling your body is your own are worth it for many. social and political factors often impede trans women's ability to access these procedures. the section of violence against women is important but it's asking for a lot of unpaid labour to accomplish its goals. the end has a critique by the author about issues with over-prioritisation of trans women in the essay, lack of intersectionality, particularly with racism and disability.
- the last essay 'whose feminism is it anyway' directly discusses racism in the 'trans debate' as this author words the title. the first part describes the history of the michigan's womyn festival, camp trans and genderpac. the second part discusses racism inehrent to the radical feminist movement and how arguments for women of colour having their own space are applicable to trans women. the third part discusses the author's experience attending a panel about 'herstory'. i like the discussion of how excluding trans women for having a different experience is inherently racist, and also how middle class white trans women can perpetuate this.
- overall lots of cool discussion about transness related to feminism, the first essay really makes me cringe though.

Kiki With Family by Raezor Beam
- about the dutch ballroom scene (and some comparisons between it and other scenes worldwide)! cool layout, where the original zine looks to have been hand made and then scanned in to be reprinted. it was nnnot proofread at all though. the history is really interesting and zine seems well researched, but some of the image examples are really not great quality thanks to the laser printing and the zine entirely being image based, which makes the examples really hard to parse sometimes (particularly with low contrast images). the text isn't always great either.
- a lot of the history stuff is more from the american side of things, though the interviews are generally with people that live in the netherlands. the first interview kinda jumps straight in without giving context for the different ballroom scenes, but thankfully we're quickly given context for that. the history describes earlier in the zine is given way more life via the interviews and the interview questions are really good! i really likes this, very interesting read about a culture i am unfamiliar with! a lot of people discuss the history and the inclusion they feel being in a space made with other black queer people, and it's a really cool thing to read about.

DON'T STOP ME NOW by Christa Orth
- very nice print quality and well designed! this zine discusses drag history, from the author who is a drag king that began doing drag in 2003, back to the 1880s and then to the present. i like how this zine doesn't gloss over race. however the author doesn't actually describe how to resist drag bans (unlike how the subtitle claims). the author resists cis and heteronormativity in some ways but the author does not describe any recent drag performances they participated in (though they describe one they witnessed). the suthor does not seem to be actively doing drag. overall the zine is okay but it's a bit of a let down in content.

Archiving Joy by Lu Williams + Others
- yet another more of a book than a zine... surprising amount of grammatical errors given the amount of people involved. very cool layout; content about Joy (a trans woman born in 1924) is interwoven with writing by other people! the pages are colour coded to either be yellow from the main author or purple when others are contributing knowledge about archiving / giving context about the era / discussing personalthoughts about transness. never seen this kind of thing before and it's very cool
- there's a lot of imagined history along with actual well researched things, mixed together in a way that is occasionally confusing... despite the very pretty printing, the contents itself isn't all that polished, which is both confusing and disappointing. how is this the second edition?? the last piece literally has betaing notes left in there... and also doesn't really make sense? very wooly. overall has a good start but pretty disappointing

Resistance! by Stoner Mouse
- describes itself as a guide to anti trans oppression and resistance. immediately dives into things that have happened and descriptions of rulings and government responses. fairly detailed but reasonably concise. each double page spread ends with a quote from a celebrity in praise of trans people's rights which is... alright. sure. makes many entirely justifiable comparisons to historical events. grim stuff.
- the resistance part isn't quite as detailed; lots of discussion on self care with some crisis resources applicable to people across the UK. has some description of where to find out about direct actions and how to do your own, but it feels lacking in specifics compared to the rest of the zine. however it does give the reader some places to start. overall servicable but i think it could do with more focus on ways to resist.

Fighting Transphobia: A Practical and Theoretical Guide by rs21
- calls itself a pamphlet so immediately clear it's gonna be dense. the conflation of intersex people (described through chromosomal conditions)pp and queer people in chapter 1 is a bit frustrating, as is the idea that nonbinary people are in a gap between biology and social construction. reading this now (early 2026) is a little sad as there's a lot of mention of right wing tories, and the writers are unaware of what labour is now like.
- the openers on theory are pretty dense but i think i got most of it... the case studies are more complicated and i really don't underatand anything about unions. the idea that trans folk can make those who work at GICs comrades is laughable (many become gatekeepers for a reason, many want control over people. northants still asks to do genital inspections on trans people who are seen by them.)
- overall this guide doesn't feel practical at all. it doesn't discuss much on how to fight transphobia in day to day life; the case studies discuss transphobia that failed through other circumstances and not cases where trans people won.

AIDS: Reflections on a crisis by Joe Tanzer and Nicola Hargrave
- discusses one of the author's lack of knowledge growing up in the early 2000s about AIDS, reviews a few books and then discusses the role of women and an ACT UP group in Leeds.
- the reviews are of books that sound interesting but the reviews themselves feel a little cut and dry? summarising content rather than adding to it / bringing it forward. the highlighting of women who were involved in working to empower PWAs is definitely recognised, with specific names and actions being listed. the interview with Crawshaw is interesting and discusses the spirit of the time and actions (or attempted ones). there's a long list of recommendations of other media at the end
- not terribly compelling, much more of an overview and a response to 'It's A Sin' (2021) about the authors and their personal reflections, but it's alright.

Fags Smoking Fags: James Baldwin + Freddie Mercury by Nathan Walker
- a set of photographs put together of gay men (baldwin and mercury, in these two zines) smoking cigarettes. the photos picked are good, showing the subject and the cigarette well in the frame. photographer credit (where known) is given which is a nice bonus. very fun theme and series name!

Boys' Club by Trans Masc Studies
- focuses on the work of artists in the 19th to 20th centuries. introduces itself with discussion on terminology and how applying modern terms to the past generally isn't a great idea. it has artist information along with a photograph of the artist and at least one of their works. the zine itself is in black and white while the centre has some colour images of artist's works. generally dryly written and factual; ends with a note on how fascism affected many of these artists and how the author stands in solidarity with palestine. it's a nice set of biographies but that's about it.

The Olden Gays by Queer Kernow
- queer history of cornwall. there's a lot of people in here, and older subject's identities are handled pretty sensitively, but sometimes with simplistic wording. the illustrations in the zine are submissions and not all of them seem related to the subject at hand. overall though it generally strikes a good balance between brevity and giving the reader enough information to understand the importance of the person described.

Sex Change U.S.A by Daisy Thursday
- a collection of unedited tabloid articles from 1993 to 2002 about trans people. contains the images of the original articles AND transcriptions, thank goodness! (though there is a typo present.) some of the articles are hard to read due to small text and the transcriptions make it much less of a headache while allowing you to see the originals! of course the content tends to be very stereotypical and narrativey but it is interesting regardless, and the adverts are also pretty revealing! the about the publisher is a little confusing and also the name has a typo which is a bit awkward. but overall a very interesting collection of articles!

SEX CHANGE USA Lost In Transition by Daisy Thursday
- this volume collects stories about trans people from the 90s, which is kind of what the previous one did... the author says these stories have never been digitized or preserved, but the one about two trans twins was in the previous issue. what's a little weird is also how the author only has 250 magazines but assumes any other coverage about one trans person's story that's followed must have been thrown away. it'll exist somewhere!
- unlike the previous issue, the article contents have not been typed out. the narrative history written next to to them definitely makes up for it though! it explains a bit more of the context and the function of tabloids. it feels a lot more organised by topic, and the brief touches on the conflict between trans folk in the media and those trying to promote trans rights are interesting! a lot less flimsy than the previous issue which is nice. overall a nicer reading experience.

Queer Community Zine by KOMPAS
- this zine is inspired by The Outback Newsletter (1996-2008) produced in cornwall. there's some snippets from the original newsletter and submissions to this zine from people that submitted work to outback, which is very cool! like many community drop in zines it's a bit messy and all over the place but there's parts that are very cool, like shosing the adverts in outback, the crossword, and the list of community groups and helplines.

Radical Deviance: A Graphic Remix by Kaiya Waerea + Evelyn Wh-ell
- this zine is a collage made from issues of graphic deviance, a journal that ran from 1996 to 1999. i really like the bits of a5 paper around the a4, especially the one on the inside describing the history of it! really interesting zine about an old project attempting to establish transsexual politics.

Tranny Central by TGirlsonFilm
- the grain of the paper used inside this zine is visible and really nice, beautiful texture, and the binding is super neat and clean. the purple is very pretty but some of the articles are really hard to read :// i don't know if these were just printed from the originals as some are much easier to read than others! it's so bad in places that i went in with a pen to add in letter fragments!! and there seems to be some strange typos / copying errors in places that are original to the articles.
- a compilation of articles the GLF's transvestite / transsexual group in the UK! some pieces are of the time, some are retrospective. lots of names which are often hard to follow for me... in general a very interesting read! there isn't much of an aim to it and it's very frank about the history and longevity of the group. the some parts are somewhat instructional and of the time which is very interesting to look back on! overall very glad i managed to snag this and it's super interesting even if it is very much london.

Queens, Hookers and Hustlers by Mack Friedman + Valerie Queen + not yr cister press
- most of the text in this zine has been taken from 'Strapped For Cash' by Mack Friedman, which is a history book about american hustler culture which looked at the 50s and 60s. there's a lot of outdated terminology, unsurprisingly, but it would've been uaeful to have some definitions of them after the introduction for more context. there was room for a lot more footnotes. overall it's an enlightening summary of the history of gender-variant sex workers in big american cities pre-stonewall.

The Norfolk Trans Joy Community Quilt Zine by Alice, Beau, Poppy + Laura
- this is such a pretty zine!!! the quilt is an utterly gorgeous piece of artwork and this is a great example fo a community coming together to make something beautiful. describes why it was make, similar fabeic-based projects. very jice process photos, utterly beautiful photography and wonderful colourwork. has some interviews from those who took part in its creation. there is article at the end about trans history and issues with terminology, which doesn't feel 100% relevant to the project itself. overall very solid; while the finished quilt isn't entirely my style it is a beautiful accomplishment.

Pinning & Stitching connections by Kandy Diamond + Melanie Maddison
- there's a good interview in here about queer / feminist badges, and Diamond's knittig work is awesome. it's not the most edited interview (a couple typos) but the questions asked are good and the answers are very clear. i love the green paper for text and the white paper in the centre for images... and the inside covers being a photograph of badges is cool. overall a very enjoyable zine!

Textiles For Change (The Ladybug Zine) by Edi Bennett and other contributors
- another zine that is blurry... why not check your resolutions before getting something professionally printed... there's a mix of essays and art pieces in here. the art is all really lovely and has a variety of topics! the essays are generally good and interesting but some of them seem to assume you already have some knowledge about the topic, so are a bit hard to put into context without that background information. there's a variety of artists in here which is very nice to see. i think the collaborative quilt for the back cover needed a space for artists to talk about their work tho. overall well put together but hampered by the poor quality.

Toilet Graffiti: The Lubber Fiend by Skum + Tipsy Rat Press
- zine begins with a brief description of the venue and what it does. then we quickly get into the pixtures of toilet graffiti! different photos have been collaged together, with themes of anti-capitalism, queerness and general toilet malarkey. simple and shows what was advertised.

WORKING OUT + TRANS by Hoodhapa
- a guide on working out from a trans person's perspective. the author doesn't actually discuss how transness affects working out beyond wanting to work out to change the body. this is probably related to the author having had gender affirming surgery beforehand. basically just a simple guide on exercising.

Glimpses by Ray Larman, Nicola Hargrave, Joe Thompson
- the contents has been put together in a cute more classic ziney way, which is really the only redeeming quality of this bunch of book reviews. i'm not well-read books wise ro be honest, and the lack of character to the reviews / descriptions of the books didn't make me want to read any of them. girl, woman, other was one book i recognised and the review is just... really lackluster. no mention of all the intertwining plots or how despite the 'other' in the book title, only one character out of a dozen+ is nonbinary. a lot of the more characteristic reviews are just good quotes from other people.

Book Gobblers by Theresa Easton
- a zine with some typography based artwork and a couple newspaper clippings about the issues Gay's The Word has faced with customs. the zine is put together in a kind of disjointed way, but clippings describe the raid and the dropping of charges. another bookshop i haven't heard of (balham food book co op) also had gay books seized by customs. interesting but a little confusing. but i really do like the fold out artwork in the centre of customd and excise gobbling up books, that's very fun.

Original Pin by The Bookish Type
- not terribly interesting imo. describes the history of badges (largely 1990s and prior) in use in the queer community, including groups, identity badges and slogans. however it reads a little sanitised and like a powerpoint? while informative it doesn't really discuss wider history (like where the term lavender menace originated or the impact any named groups made). it's dull read overall.

Trans Form by Crash King
- more a book rather than a zine tbh... generally a set of biographies about trans people occasionally interrupted by random mini essays with titles like 'on being "trans enough" ' which makes this feel geared towards a young trans audience (young as in new to being trans). art style is fairly simplistic and the author rarely writes more than a paragraph on each subject, some of these really read like wikipedia summaries.
- there's quite a bit of variation between the people discussed though many are pretty well known. the modern day people are largely just related to shows or online media, tending to read as 'hey there is trans in x popular thing' and none of them seem to be doing all that much specific to helping trans people in a practical way which is disappointing. the amount of people in here who were on rupaul's drag race is kind of ridiculous. overall okay but not exactly thought provoking and seems to be aimed at young people.

The Opposite Of Haram by Sheyam Ghieth
- this zine describes itself as a queer muslim manifesto. it's got a lot of uplifting messages in here for queer muslims and references to the quran. there's also a lot of disxussion on colonialism and resisting it. it also comes with a little slip on questions for the reader to ask themselves and a list of commitements to follow. i'm not in a good position to evaluate the content but the tone is a little twee though the message is important.

Queers Read This by Anonymous
- oh boy can you see the scanner grain. but this is a really cool zine! discusses problems with how queer folk still (in 1990) have less freedom of movement than straight folk. series of articles about we are angry and we aren't doing enough. this was apt in 1990, 2009 when it was republished and now (2025). very nicely gives soem context for cultural references without interrupting original text. discusses lots of violence and awful things and the important of fighting back. big favourite, i really really like this! product of the times and yet it remains unfortunately apt.

AGITATE! AGITATE! AGITATE! by CJ Raey
- describes author's struggles with reading dense books and explains how zines are much easier to digest and produce for everyone. interspersed with a lot of previous artwork by the author and comes with a poster! personal but has many mentions of capitalism, self publishing and its power, and mentions of older media that inspired the author. generally a celebration of diy and attempts to get the reader on board.

Cruising by CJ Reay
- this isn't with the other sex zines purely because it isn't a5, but instead a weird wider shape, and it'd pretty annoying in the middle of all the a5 stuff. has a brief defintion, legality and historical context given, and importance to the author. depicted with illustrations of sex acts and locations of places to cruise / cottage near author's location. interesting and bautifullly despicted! comes an a6 zine beginning with a quote by David Wojnarowiscz and full size artwork from Cruising.

Container issue 3 - 5 by Fifthmars + Others
- the risograph printing for issue 3 kinda has begun rubbing off with time... weird folding is cool though, but inconvenient. the theme is growth, but a lot of the pieces are vaguely related. there's so many pieces with colour for a zine printed in lime on black paper and so many are near impossible to parse... the cards given with this issue of container explain more about each artist, but they're not numbered and the folding guide doesn't explain who is on which page either. the entire thing is pretty cumbersome and awkward. it's a cool idea but awkward logistically.
- issue 4 is much easier to handle; it's a normal book with a little envelope on the front cover containing info about the artists. the theme is comfort. not all the pieces are directly related, but many are and the ability to have more than just lime or black makes it way easier to parse artwork. i find the sticky note on the piece depicting genitalia quite amusing :) overall i like a lot more of the pieces in issue 4, and it's way easier to handle.
- issue 5 is smaller than the others. this issue is cslled speak for yourself and it collates answers to 'what does non-binary mean to you?' from past submissions. the inside is put together as strips of coloured paper which make up the nonbinary flag, which is cool. however the words themselves are... not particularly insightful. sometimes answers are jokes or one liners, and there's hardly any explanation of how the meaning manifests itself. cool format but not particularly interesting contents.

TOP by Rainer Bloodgood
- this zine describes the author's expedience of coming out, starting testosterone and then having top surgery, the latter in the most detail. it's a mix of personal and informative. the art style for the comics is very cute!

Teeth Become Weapons by CJ Reay
- describes inspiration for the artwork inside and a list of things David Wojnarowicz did. artwork is supplemented by quotes from Wojnarowicz's writing. personally i don't find the artwork terribly impactful, it just makes me want to read the original writing.

We Don't Want Reform We Want Anarchy by CJ Reay
- a zine showing all the artwork by Black Lodge Press (which the author runs) and some of the places it has been installed in public. pretty cool, the artwork is generally pretty impactful using quotes and two to three colours per piece. layout is pretty well done, contents speaks for itself.
